From the Manufacturer

The Three-in-One Family Thermometer from Summer Infant comes with a corded thermometer base much like the one a physician would use. Three adaptable probes are included for oral, rectal and underarm use; thereby hygienically allowing you to use one thermometer for all three purposes. This thermometer delivers fast and accurate readings, beeps when the reading is complete, and will glow red if the temperature registers at 99.9 degrees Fahrenheit or higher ¿ indicating a fever is present. The Fever Alert¿ feature makes it easier to get a quick visual reading, especially when taking a child's temperature at night. Thermometer also knows exactly which probe is in use and calibrates the readout accordingly; since typically rectal readings are a degree higher than oral, and underarm readings are a degree lower.

Customer Reviews

My instance of this thermometer always reads low and varies between 1-2 degrees in consecutive readings.

And since the underarm thermometer has the most inconsistent temperature readings, I'm not inclined to use it either.

I also like the storage compartment on the back side of the unit because I would certainly lose the attachments!

I orginally bought this item for my sister's baby shower. I liked it so much I bought one for myself to try as well. I've only used this thermometer a few times so far, but I am very happy with the results. I have a 2 year old and an 8 month old and I needed something that actually worked (not like some of the other digital thermometers I have tried!). This thermometer seems to be very fast and accurate. I like the fact that it has a special attachment for under the arm. It gives you more surface area to get a better reading. I also like that this thermometer lights up red or green to indicate a fever or not. This is a nice feature to have if you need to take your child's temperature during the night and don't want to wake him/her by turning on a light to read the thermometer. Another great feature of this item is that the three attachment store nicely inside the the thermometer so you always know where they are when you need them.

Ok...I've went through about 5 to 8 thermometers in 2.5 years, attempting to find one that wasn't junk. I've tried them all. Ear, rectal, forehead, oral, underarm. This is GREAT! Enough said...BUY IT! Trust me, I've been a pediatric nurse for 20 years, this is an excellent thermometer without spending $200, which was my next step.

First, let me say that this thermometer has a handy design, and it is very nice to have three separate attachments for oral, underarm, and anal readings. I have a couple of problems with it, though. First, it is supposed to give a reading in 5 seconds. It takes much longer than that, and often turns off before getting a reading. Second, the underarm measurements are consistently low, though the probes are supposed to lead to pre-calibrated readings. Third, about half the time, the green/red lights don't light up. Perhaps I simply got a "lemon"? In spite of these drawbacks, though, it is a nice thermometer kit. If you buy it, just test yours first with normal body temperature so you can calibrate and know if the readings are consistently high or low, and by how much. Then you can simply add or subtract when it comes time to make a judgement about fever.

I received two other thermometers as gifts but this was the closest to what they use at the doctor's office so I immediately liked that. Plus, it has all the attachments right in the back which means I can't lose them and I probably would have without the storage! So far, I only use the rectal attachment because my children are both under the age of two but I have had extremely accurate readings. I use this a lot, have had it a year and a half and have never had to replace the batteries. This is what I give to my friends who are expecting babies. I love this thermometer.

I have owned this thermometer for about 2 months and have used it several times with my young son. They promised a fast reading and I found that most of the time it is fast but there have been times where I have had to wait 30+ seconds for a reading. I looked in the manual and it says "if used correctly you will get a 7 second reading" so maybe I wasn't using it "correctly".

I love the storage compartment in the back to hold the different tips and I also love the fact that it can store the last 10 readings so you can view them. Overall, I would recommend this to a friend.

I would encourage every new Mom and Dad to register for one of these or pick one up. I wasn't sure because of mixed reviews, but I am so happy with how well it has held up. When it arrived, the color was a little different than we saw online, but as far as use has gone, we have used, abused and it is still performing well. It stores so well, the attachments pop on and off so well and are easily stored when you are done. Our brute of a son really likes having his temp taken under his arm, so when he is sick and crabby we've even let him 'play' with this for hours (hey, anything to keep a crabby guy happy...) and it even took his use. I really am pleased with it, especially considering how well priced it is compaired to others.

I should mention that we got a couple of other thermometers as gifts that simply read the wrong temps, just never worked, or didn't last even through the first half-year.

This thermometer is great! I love the three ends to it! You don't have to worry about cross contamination between the rectal use for my newborn now and underarm or oral use later. I've checked it against "regular" digital thermometers and taken it on the same day as a doctor's visit and I've found it to be very accurate. I also like the storage compartment on the back side of the unit because I would certainly lose the attachments!

I Purchased this thinking it was pretty close to what they had our preemie use at the hospital, and for the most part this is pretty close.

It doesnt seem to be much more accurate then the cheapo thermometers, and is more or less just as quick. The only reall difference is that it gives you the color code when it returns the result for ok or fever.

The back end where it stores the other parts is not the beset quality, if you are fairly strong you will pull it out too far each time as I do and that gets fairly annoying sometimes.

Also its not terribly easy to switch the ends/leads out or to even put one on in the first place, you need to have light and they only fit in one way.
