5.0 out of 5 stars It Does It All!
I orginally bought this item for my sister's baby shower. I liked it so much I bought one for myself to try as well. I've only used this thermometer a few times so far, but I am very happy with the results. I have a 2 year old and an 8 month old and I needed something that actually worked (not like some of the other digital thermometers I have tried!). This thermometer...

3.0 out of 5 stars Works decently, but not as advertised
First, let me say that this thermometer has a handy design, and it is very nice to have three separate attachments for oral, underarm, and anal readings. I have a couple of problems with it, though. First, it is supposed to give a reading in 5 seconds. It takes much longer than that, and often turns off before getting a reading. Second, the underarm measurements are...

This thermometer seems to be very fast and accurate. I like the fact that it has a special attachment for under the arm. It gives you more surface area to get a better reading. I also like that this thermometer lights up red or green to indicate a fever or not. This is a nice feature to have if you need to take your child's temperature during the night and don't want to wake him/her by turning on a light to read the thermometer. Another great feature of this item is that the three attachment store nicely inside the the thermometer so you always know where they are when you need them.

Ok...I've went through about 5 to 8 thermometers in 2.5 years, attempting to find one that wasn't junk. I've tried them all. Ear, rectal, forehead, oral, underarm. This is GREAT! Enough said...BUY IT! Trust me, I've been a pediatric nurse for 20 years, this is an excellent thermometer without spending $200, which was my next step.

Second, the underarm measurements are consistently low, though the probes are supposed to lead to pre-calibrated readings. Third, about half the time, the green/red lights don't light up. Perhaps I simply got a "lemon"? In spite of these drawbacks, though, it is a nice thermometer kit. If you buy it, just test yours first with normal body temperature so you can calibrate and know if the readings are consistently high or low, and by how much. Then you can simply add or subtract when it comes time to make a judgement about fever.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Only Thermometer We Need, January 25, 2008

I received two other thermometers as gifts but this was the closest to what they use at the doctor's office so I immediately liked that. Plus, it has all the attachments right in the back which means I can't lose them and I probably would have without the storage! So far, I only use the rectal attachment because my children are both under the age of two but I have had extremely accurate readings. I use this a lot, have had it a year and a half and have never had to replace the batteries. This is what I give to my friends who are expecting babies. I love this thermometer.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Product but not as fast as they promise, September 8, 2009

I have owned this thermometer for about 2 months and have used it several times with my young son. They promised a fast reading and I found that most of the time it is fast but there have been times where I have had to wait 30+ seconds for a reading. I looked in the manual and it says "if used correctly you will get a 7 second reading" so maybe I wasn't using it "correctly".

I love the storage compartment in the back to hold the different tips and I also love the fact that it can store the last 10 readings so you can view them. Overall, I would recommend this to a friend.

5.0 out of 5 stars So convenient, June 26, 2008
This review is from: Summer Infant Three-In-One Family Thermometer (Baby Product)
This thermometer is great! I love the three ends to it! You don't have to worry about cross contamination between the rectal use for my newborn now and underarm or oral use later. I've checked it against "regular" digital thermometers and taken it on the same day as a doctor's visit and I've found it to be very accurate. I also like the storage compartment on the back side of the unit because I would certainly lose the attachments!

My instance of this thermometer always reads low and varies between 1-2 degrees in consecutive readings. I just don't trust it at all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, June 5, 2008
This review is from: Summer Infant Three-In-One Family Thermometer (Baby Product)
I use this thermometer all the time. I love that it has 3 different attachment and it shows right on the display where to use it. Another thing that I really like is that it lights up red if the child has a fever. I would definitely recommend it.

I was excited to get this thermometer but it really isn't any different/more accurate than my $9.99 one from the drugstore.

It looks great, works well. The compartment to hold the extra pieces is really handy, they don't get lost! Definitely worth the money.
