Most Helpful Customer Reviews

1 of 2 people found the following review helpful By Gertude the Duck on June 11, 2010
Format: Paperback
In the midst of wars and oil spills, comes this tale of A Jail for Justice. In it five children, using their wits and wisdom, uncover an old injustice and reunite a family. The adults in the book form a non-interfering backdrop. The reader spends time primarily with these young people who gather together each summer to renew their friendships and discover truths about the world. The mystery begins with a sealed box that has sat in an empty house for ten years. What it contains begins the journey. Highly recommended. Those who have read the first book in the series, Summer Island: A Prince in Peril, will want to continue the relationship with Seymour, Zoe, Dinora, Daniel, and Greta. After reading the first two books, one will be anxious for Summer Island: A Karst in Kweilin.

More About the Author

Robin Russell (1971- ) grew up in Seattle, Washington, the oldest of three girls. At the age of nine her parents decided to become ministers and the family moved to Bangor, Maine. There she reconnected with her New England roots and extended family. These people and places would later find their way into her middle-grade adventure series, Summer Island. The books take place on Deer Isle where Ms. Russell would go as a child to visit her great aunts.

When Ms. Russell was 11-years-old, she moved to Bangalore, India where her parents continued their theological study. This experience launched a wave of international exposure. Extensive travel allowed Ms. Russell to meet and connect with children from all over the world.

These days Ms. Russell finds great joy in teaching writing to seventh-graders. She's taking a break before the final Summer Island Book - A Melee in Marrakesh. Instead she's starting a new series loosely based on her unconventional childhood. The first book is titled, Those Roys on Planet Earth.
