3.0 out of 5 stars Karen Cliche is Blonde!!, October 28, 2009

Karen Cliche! One of the earlier efforts while still in her blonde mode. Fairly mundane, but Karen is as beautiful as ever. Bought this just because of her. Oh well, I'm addicted! }:o)

5.0 out of 5 stars Summer must end sometime, but not until after you watch this movie, January 28, 2010

This review is from: Summer (DVD)
Im writing this review as the credits are are rolling. Pleasantly surprised that it was a good movie. True that its plot has being done before but non the less it was worth my money and time. I too am a Karen Cliche fan and that was my reason for buying this DVD. Must say I wasnt disappointed at all. First off there arnt any special features other than some DVD trailers. Not a huge budget movie, No real big stars (other than Karen) but this is one of those movies you never heard of before that you might actually pass if your channel surfing. But by some chance you end up watching you see its very good. With the usual coming of age 'time to grow up' plot. With moments that remind you of a MOMENT OF YOUR LIFE AT THIS STAGE. Nice indie music score which works very well. Im not gonna explain the whole movie because you need to watch it, lol. Like the details state this is about 3 Collage grads who want one last summer of 'fun'. Before they really have to grow up. They enjoy being by a pool park. They are the kings of this place. All three have lovers who come in and out of the movie who end up being a very important part of the story and eventually where the movie ends up. One main charactor (Joe Coben) is dealing with a girlfriend who spends alot of time working on her medical degree. With possablity of them having to move apart. As well as and old high school flame on an older girl. She comes in and gets in the mix. Not her fault thou. He has to juggle their relationship while saying goodbye to the library he work at since a kid. Other main guy (Michael Rubenfeld) has to deal with growning up and know longer being 'king of the pool' as well as leader of his friends. He has the least interesting love story out of the 3. Karen Cliche wants to be a actress and has to deal with getting past over audition after audition. As well as a boyfriend who everyone agrees is an As"shole. But another love interest comes into her plot.
Movie made in 2003 and released on dvd in 2006.

4.0 out of 5 stars A PLEASANT SURPRISE!!!, June 26, 2005

SAINT OF SINNERS (Winnipeg, Manitoba, CANADA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Summer (DVD)
I won't waste anyone's time by writing too much about the plot, because to be honest, there isn't that much plot. But that's not a put-down. It's just a fair assessment of the movie, and of life. It's about the summer that everyone has at one point in their life or another: when do I grow up and take responsibility and how do I balance that with keeping a childlike wonder and optimism about the world. For example, Karen Cliche's character is an actress who starts a relationship with an up-and-coming actor in the hopes that her relationship with him will advance her career. Will she stay with him or choose one of her best guy friends who's always respected her and had a crush on her? Of course, we all know the answer to that one. Despite that, the movie remains an entertaining, truthful, funny, and sincere look at growing up in Montreal. And this is a TV movie, by the way! I wish there were more honest, intelligent, and entertaining coming-of-age movies like this one rather than the countless "trying-so-hard-to-be-hip" teen comedies that are produced every year.
