In this account, Andrew Stevenson demonstrates Norway's magical appeal as he walks and cycles (getting stuck in the odd snowdrift along the way) across the breadth of the country from Oslo to Bergen.

excellent insights into Norway and dead easy to read,
By A Customer
This review is from: Summer Light: A Walk Across Norway - Lonely Planet Journeys (Travel Literature) (Paperback)
Thoroughly enjoyed reading this description of two people's journey across Norway. Having spent five years there, and speaking the language, Andrew provides easy insights into Norway, Norwegians and their way of life. As funny and insightful as it is, there's an added element, a bittersweet experience as he returns to a land, and a past love, which had bewitched him and charmed him. I felt like I was there and didn't want the story to end.

This is an amazing book for anyone who has ever visited Norway and seen the little red farmhouses on the top of the sheer walls that line the fjords. Now imagine following a trail that leads from house to house. The story totally grabs your imagination as it describes an extended hike in one of the most beautiful places in the world. I was very glad to find this story and plan to read it again at some point.

This review is from: Summer Light: A Walk Across Norway - Lonely Planet Journeys (Travel Literature) (Paperback)
My husband is Norwegian (moved here from Oslo to marry me). We live in Toronto, ON, Canada! He often shared stories and stories of how norwegians were and its so funny and entertaining to hear these exact stories in this book. Its a quick read and you can visualize those beautiful fjords, mountains and off-the-beaten-track trecks you see NOrwegians On I'd fully recommend it!!
