Solid, splendid--one of the best from the Boys,

A must-have, simply put. A friend once looked at the songs on "Revolver" and said "Is this a greatest hits CD?" The same can be said about this album. (Two-fer or not, buy it. It's only money.) Now check out "Shut Down, Vol. 2." Long live 1964.

Any Beach Boys fan will love it and even people who aren't Beach Boy fans will learn to love it and will love to listen to it. It's really cool and up to date. Buy it and listen to it! It's really great!

Brain Wilson is a genius, what more do you need to know?,

I'd hunt for a copy of the "Little Deuce Coupe/All Summer Long" two-fer before dropping change on this single album CD. It is still in print in Canada and you'd get more bang for your buck. Nuts to Capitol records for deleting the wonderful two-fer series. Despite what some folks might claim the song "Drive In" is not about "the joys of dining out" but actually about the joys of the drive in movie theatre!

America's #1 group responds to Beatlemania with a #1album,

In the 1960s, albums released in America usually timed out at appx. 1/2 hour, with about 12 songs. Sadly, Capitol Records deleted the catalogue of Beach Boys two-fers, in favour of the original packaging seen here. As it is, All Summer Long is a first -- first response to the Beatles, first of the magnificent Brian Wilson-produced albums featuring all of Phil Spector's musicians, the Wrecking Crew, and first to really break the mould of only surf and car songs. Brian wouldcompletely realise this non-fad album cycle with Today and Pet Sounds in the following two years. This album stands at the beginning of BB Phase II: Phase I was the surf/car records, Phase II inclu- ding All Summer Long/Summer Days/Today/Pet Sounds, and Phase III was the post-Pet Sounds, non-Brian-produced, collaborative period for the Beach Boys. Stellar production and vocal arrange- ments, catchy timeless tunes...what more is there?

Another Truncated Beach Boys CD, But Great Music,
By A Customer
This review is from: All Summer Long (Audio CD)
Of all of the major music groups, the Beach Boys are probably one of the worst served by their record label. This album was originally packaged along with the "Little Deuce Coupe" album, bonus tracks, and song by song annotation. Mysteriously, all of that is gone and we are left with a short single album, no liner notes or packaging, and no bonus tracks. This is wonderful music but it is frustrating to know that the original CD package is out of print in the USA.

I've been listening to the Beach Boys since I was five years old and this is still one of my favorites!!! Not only does it have some tunes that really get you jiven', but it has "Do you Remember?" on it, a short, but VERY awesome piece of music that you can't find (very easily) on any other CD. Its bound to put a smile on your face and make your leg start boppin'!!!

A album worth getting if you like early 60's rock,

This is (like a lot of Beach Boys albums) a magnificient collection of songs. My favorites are "Drive-in" and "Little Honda" because they are good hot rod songs and they have funny and groovy lyrics. One thing that really got to me was the "Our Favorite Recording Sessions". The guys in the studio made me laugh when they clowned around, and I think you will be entertained as well. Lastly "Don't Back Down" is a #2 favorite of mine as well and a perfect summer song. To any good Beach Boy fan this would be a good album to add to your collection. (I'm NOT trying to rip any body off, because I like the Beach Boys and I am reviewing only my favorites because I think these are albums others would like too.)

THIS CD IS EXACTLY THE SAME AS THE CAPITAL RECORDS RELEASE "ENDLESS SUMMER",
THE MID-70's RELEASE THAT GAVE THE BEACH BOYS A GOLD RECORD IN SALES. THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS THAT THE TRAX ARE SHUFFELED AROUND. GREAT "IMPORT" SOUND QUALITY - A GREAT DEAL.....BUT IF YOU'RE LOOKIN' FOR THOSE RARE "STEREO" VERSIONS OF "I GET AROUND" AND OTHERS, YOU WON'T FIND THEM HERE. THESE ARE THE SAME VERSIONS THAT ARE AVAILABLE IN DOMESTIC USA MARKETS. STILL A GREAT BARGAIN . " BUY IT " |
