Burned out with her job as a high-priced escort for New York agency, Club Fantasy, Leslie Morgan decides to take a break from playing the part of Carolynne (with an e) and take some time for herself. Retreating to the Connecticut town of Sound's End, Leslie plans on relaxing in the shade, catching up on her reading, and having a break from thinking about sex for awhile. Little does she know that the town she's inhabiting can think about nothing else.

Though Sound's End might seem like a small seaside retreat, Leslie soon discovers that it has all the drama and turmoil of her fast-paced NYC life. For one thing, the town sexpot, Vicki, is planning on opening a store called Vicki's Erotic Emporium, specializing in sex toys and videos. Sound's End's mayor, Suze, a woman who prides herself on knowing everything that goes on in her small town, is less than enthused. In fact, Suze is so dead-set against the store's opening that she rallies the other residents to keep Vicki's store from opening. When Leslie defends Vicki and her right to make money however she chooses, erotic emporium or no, she unwittingly opens the floodgates to do battle with Suze, who is used to getting her own way.

Furthermore, there is the town's resident hunk, NYC police officer, Brad DeVane. The women of Sound's End are all abuzz with news of Brad and his charming personality and chiseled features. Though Leslie promised herself that she would forget about sex on her vacation, when she meets Brad she can't help but start thinking dirty thoughts. It seems an impossible dream. A hooker and a cop? Still, Leslie isn't like other prostitutes. And litttle does she know that Brad already knows about her real occupation and is in Sound's End to find out more about Carolynne and Club Fantasy.

Hot Summer Nights will be a great choice to take on vacation this summer if you're in the mood for some mindless, entertaining fun. It's rare to see the "hooker with a heart of gold" storyline done in such a way that the woman in question never comes across as a villain. In fact, Leslie was almost too nice. She spends a lot of her time mending broken fences in Sound's End to change the way people think about her and about prostitution in general. In fact, my chief complaint with this book is nothing at all to do with Leslie. The story's narration switches characters throughout and some of the Sound's End inhabitants voices aren't as distinctive as they could be. Sometimes a teenage girl was narrating and because of word choice and language I would get her confused with one of the older characters. Despite this minor flaw, I thoroughly enjoyed this book as a whole. Joan Elizabeth Lloyd did a great job of tackling a difficult subject, but doing so with a character who was still interesting and fun to read about. Be forewarned that there are a few graphic sex scenes, but you're reading a book about a prostitute, so I think that's to be expected. As a whole, I'd recommend Hot Summer Nights as a fun beach that delivers what its title promises.

Leslie Morgan enjoys working at Manhattan's Club Fantasy even though many would condemn her as a high priced call girl. However, as much as she enjoys her position, she feels a desperate need for time away from the club and the customers. She rents a cottage in Sound End, Connecticut for the summer.

At South End, Leslie meets vacationing New York police officer, Brad DeVane. They are attracted to one another from the start. As their relationship grows, they fall in love, but for the first time in her life Leslie is afraid, perhaps even a bit ashamed, to tell her beloved what she does for a living for fear he will condemn and scorn her before leaving her.

This is a well written contemporary romance starring two beguiling lead characters whose steamy relationship makes for loving HOT SUMMER NIGHTS once they leave behind the overwhelming spoonfuls of support characters stuck in the summer in the city. The intriguing element to this fine tale is Leslie's secret that she conceals from her beloved because she believes once he learns what she does for a living he will dump her. Still she plans to make the most of her fantasy summer with the hunk that turns her on as much as she turns him on for she knows this is the greatest summer of her life [...].

Let me start by saying that this review is only for the first eight chapters. After completing chapter eight I finally gave up. There are so many characters in this book that a reader almost needs a flow chart to keep track of them all. The book was very descriptive but too slow in developing for my reading preference.

This is the first book I read from this author. Just something I came across and the cover grabbed my attention. This was just one of those books that I can't figure out where it went wrong, but it just didn't grab my attention as much as I hoped. It was good, just not great. There was so many characters introduced right as the book got going and I had to flip back and re-read some parts just to refresh my mind on who's kids belonged to who. After it got going it stuck with me, but at first it was so much information it overwhelmed the story a bit. The sex scenes were hot and I thought this was a good read

I could not put this book down from the very beginning. I purchased to read on a weekend trip and read the entire time. It encompasses several other characters than just the two main. This is a great book to just lose yourself in.
