I'll agree with Octavio, for the price there should have been more. In fact, this 10 song disc has about 45 minutes of music on it. A compact disc was created to hold about 80 minutes of music. This could have almost been doubled.

Okay, but for what's there... Cowsill's Hair from the musical of the same name, Grand Funk Railroad's nearly 10 minute Closer to Home/I'm Your Captain, Eric Burdon and War's Spill the Wine, Fifth Dimension's Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In, also from the musical Hair and one of my absolute personal favorites of all time, Zager & Evans' In the Year 2525. (Sometimes that song is near impossible to find.)

Sonically this is passible. There's no amazing upgrades or technical wizardry. These are the songs that were played on the radio during the 70s. The Summer of Peace, Love & Music really doesn't encompass these songs. That summer was the previous decade, specifically 1967 when Dr. Timothy Leary announced, "Turn on, tune in, drop out". (That's all pretty funny from a guy who spent at least 7 years in higher education earning a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology!)

Anyway... there are a lot of better compilations out there for a better price. This is so-so taken on its own but taken with Vol 1, 3 and 4 could be concluded to be an integral component in the four volume set.

THE SUMMER OF PEACE, LOVE & MUSIC Vol.2 continues this 4-disc series with high quality stereo transfers of mostly full-length original recordings (the Vanilla Fudge and Blue Cheer songs aren't the album cuts). These are tunes that were well loved by the Woodstock Generation-- every one is an outstanding highlight of that unique musical era. Highly recommended.

well if you're releasing an album with the name "the summer of peace, love and music, vol 2" you'd expect something a little bit more complete, don't get me wrong the songs chosen here are great, but they could (record company) have released one whole album instead of two???, i just recently bought a box set by the name "rockin' 70's" which is a three cd set, now that's what they should have done with this one, like i said the music is fine, blue cheer, chamber brothers and the classic closer to home/i'm your captain by grand funk, it's just that 10 songs only??? c'mon next time, do what other record companies have done, take your time choose 30 or 40 songs that really reflect that era and release a compilation that's really worth it, like i said i bought this cd because of the price, that's the only reason, cheers!!!!!! panama dejen la corrupcion oye!!!!!!
