I am a night nurse, which naturally means I sleep at some time during the day. This is one of my favorite CDs, because it helps me fall asleep no matter how stressful the work "day" has been. "A Day on Cape Cod: Summer Rain" lacks the sounds of thunder that some of the other rain recordings have, but in this case that's a plus. Who doesn't feel like curling up in a warm snug bed on a rainy evening?

This recording of a rain shower is becoming one of my favorites. The rain is very steady and relaxing with no annoying bird sounds to disturb the tranquility of the rain. The only change that I would make is that the sound is too soft. In order to really hear the rain, you have to turn the volume up full blast and even then the rain sound does not sound like a down pour. If you want a rain CD that will sound like a down pour I would recommend my number one favorite rain CD which is "Sounds of the Earth: Rain in the Country". This is a louder recording of a steady rain shower and it has no annoying birds.

This CD is a soothing recording of rain and only rain. There are no distracting sounds like birds or thunder or music. Personally, I put this CD in my CD player and hit the repeat function.

I won't bore you with a long review of this cd. I'll just that it is so great that I fear I may never go to sleep again if I ever lose my copy. Thank goodness someone finally made a cd of just rain without thunder.

This is one of my favorites. If you want to hear rain without any thunder, this is the CD for you. It is very relaxing and starts out as a gentle rain to a harder rain and then back down to a gentle rain again. I highly recommend this one.

I couldn't agree more with the first reviewer. It is a wonderful recording of just rain without the other distracting noises. It's great to listen to late at night and go back in your mind to being a kid lying in bed and listening to the rain outside while you are warm & dry inside. It's a great way to fall asleep or to meditate. This is the only CD I've found so far with just rain.

I bought this CD to help me fall asleep and mask the ringing in my ears (tinnitus), but found the sound level to be too soft. I had to raise the volume significantly to solve the problem. It's good from the point of view that it's pleasant and has a consistent sound, but others who may want it to solve the same problem may find it too soft. Good for those who just want a soft rain sound as a background.

I must have every cd on the market for thunderstorms, wind and rain. I have tinnitus and this type of cd helps me sleep at night. So many of the cds are not worth buying - they skip, have periods of silence, etc. and this is definitely not what a tinnitus sufferer needs to hear. I enjoy this cd and I play it every other night - no breaks - I find I always fall asleep before the tape has finished.

Summer Rain is the perfect sleep CD; there is a variety of sounds but no surprises, all sounds are appropriate, and the hour-long recording gradually diminishes from a steady rain to a slight drizzle. I have other rain CDs that add occasionally startling claps of thunder, or perhaps a symphony of birdcalls; this would be great, except they have nocturnal and diurnal birds calling at the same time! Cape Cod rain has soothed my husband and my parents to sleep, as well, so I believe it has wide appeal. Highly recommended.

It's a recording of rain, folks. Nothing more, nothing less.

If you are looking for something else, go somewhere else.

But if you're looking for sweet, beautiful rain and nothing more, this is the recording for you.

I came across this CD several years ago at the Palm Springs Library. I checked it out often, and would let it roll for hours when I was home going about my business (rain sounds good in the desert, you know...).

I moved, time passed, but I remembered this recording over the years, assuming it was long gone. On a lark I googled "rain recording" or something like that, and lo and behold, there it was, alive and well on Amazon.

I'm listening to it as I'm typing this, on my laptop. I've got a couple Altec Lansing desktop speakers with a bass box tapped into my rig, volume at about 50%, and it sounds like it's raining outside with the windows open. I live in San Diego, one block from the I-5, and the combination of digital rain and freeway is fabulous.

I'm a tinitus guy and I need something going in the background, and this CD works for me.

I recommend it.
