The list author says: "Hey Peachtown! I thought this was the best way to list books and some comments. Have fun and just ask each other for other selections. I did not put on any books that I may teach this year. There are a million more books that I would put on (Percy Jackson, the Red Pyramid, any Roald Dalh book) but I thought this might be a good start. Enjoy! If anyone wants a personal recommendation, just email me!"
"One of my favorite books of all time growing up until I read third book in series, A Swiftly Tilting Planet, which then became my most favorite. The second (Wind in the Door) starts slow and may be a bit too scientific for fourth/fifth grade. It did teach me a lot about the human body on a cellular level"
"haven't seen the movie (of course) but loved this whole series. It is time consuming to read, a bit dense at times and I would not have been able to read it in fourth grade. Excellent and unique characters"
"wonderful illustrations. Takes place in an alternate reality on the verge of WWI. Two main characters, a girl and a boy, who enter air force academy for the British. The girl is disguised because they only boys. Again, the illustrations are really cool"
