Book Description

Can their love survive a secret he never suspected?

A tragedy transformed Rose Hamilton from a surrogate mother for her beloved foster sister into a single mom expecting twins. But when she walks into Dr. Hunter Mackenzie's West Virginia wildlife rehab clinic - with her pregnancy still a secret - all he sees is a gorgeous, likable woman applying for a job. Rose doesn't want a romance with the handsome veterinarian who doesn't suspect that she's expecting, and who's already got plenty of trouble thanks to a mayor who wants to rid his town of Mac's lion cubs and injured wolves. Why would a man who obviously loves the wild life want to fall in love with a ready-made family? (Book Two of the bestselling Hawks Mountain Series)

"Elizabeth Sinclair lulls you into a place and holds you there." - Vicki Hinze, bestselling author of the Crossroads Crisis Center series.

Elizabeth Sinclair is the award-winning author of eighteen romance novels. The next book in her Hawks Mountain series will be FOREVER FALL.

5.0 out of 5 stars wonderful story January 16, 2012
By Frances
Format:Paperback
This is just such a heart warming story. I. Read it in one day I was enjoying it so much. You will love the character Granny Jo. Wish she was real and I could meet her. Hawks mtn. Is the first book of this series and was equally as good with a good story and well developed chacters. Love and romance abound in these two books. I am looking toward to the next in the series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book, great series February 12, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I am eager to read the next Hawk's Mountain romance (Hawk's Mountain, Summer Rose) after reading this installment. Make no mistake, this is a stand-alone story. But why wouldn't you want to read them all? The author brings to life a small West Virginia town with colorful characters. Each book is a romance, of course, and Elizabeth Sinclair knows how to tell a romance. Rose is a surrogate mother, pregnant with her best friend's twins, who finds herself alone and in need of a job. Without divulging her condition, she applies for a job with the hero and ... well, read the heartwarming story and see how love works its magic.

5.0 out of 5 stars warm regional romance February 28, 2012
Format:Paperback
Registered nurse Rose Hamilton agreed to be a surrogate mother to her foster care friend Beth and Patrick. She carries twins, but is now responsible for them as Beth and Patrick died in an accident. In Carson, West Virginia she applies for a position at Paws & Claws Animal Clinic. Dr. Hunter Mackenzie hires her when she manages to get an orphaned lion cub to eat. This is the first time she touched an animal not counting a cricket that her foster mother stepped on years ago. Her only concern is the health insurance will not cover her prenatal care

Hunter and Rose are attracted to one another from that first interview and their attraction grows though she hides her delicate condition from him. She assumes a man in love with the wild does not need three dependents; besides which she knows her employer has issues with Mayor George Collins over his lion cubs and wolf. The vet wonders why he has a constant urge to kiss his new employee.

The return to Hawks Mountain is a warm regional romance. The support cast is strong as people like Granny Jo brings a local flavor to the mix while the animals add compassion. The lead couple is a tender pairing of two people fearful of relationships falling in love as he recognizes her as a natural and she realizes he is her hero.

4.0 out of 5 stars I was iffy at first, but quickly came around August 8, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Being from the south and particular about spelling I really hate it when people misuse and misspell y'all. I almost put this book down as soon as I opened it because on the first line in "Granny Jo's Journal" was 'Hi, ya'll'. I figured maybe it was a one time thing so I did a search and there were no more misspellings of the word so I continued. Another issue was that it started out with a first person, simplistic, chipper, everything's coming up roses attitude that just didn't sit right with me, but I kept reading and boy was I relieved when I realized that it was truly just an entry in a journal and the author's way of doing an introduction.

This book contained a premise not quite like anything I have read and I thoroughly enjoyed the subject matter. The author did a good job of meshing the romance and the main plot of the story. The romance was developed properly and over a period of time instead of them being head over heels, let's get to it, in a matter of hours or a weekend or anything like that. If my memory serves me well, and it seldom does, there were only two times in the book where the main characters had sex and the author in no way gave detailed, graphic depictions.

Although I started to put it down in the beginning, I am glad I didn't and it was well worth my time to read it. This is something I would recommend to anyone who likes a fairly clean romance and good story to go with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Like going home and finding new friends June 12, 2012
Format:Paperback
Having read and enjoyed Hawks Mountain, Summer Rose was like going home to a place you've been before and getting reacquainted with people you came to know and love there. And then you get to meet a few new ones who are just as wonderful. It's a truly heartwarming story, but don't forget the tissues when you sit down to read it. Sometimes you will need them because you laugh until you cry, sometimes because Ms Sinclair just has a way with romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Heartwarming Romance April 16, 2012
By Vickie
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Elizabeth Sinclair has created a sweet romance that will touch your heart. Make sure you get some tissues, because there are a couple scenes that will make you cry. I'm originally from a small town in West Virginia, and the author did a great job of making me believe I was there again. Summer Rose is a heartwarming romance that you don't want to miss reading. I can't wait to read Forever Fall, the third one in the Hawks Mountain series.

2.0 out of 5 stars Romance? January 8, 2013
By Joanne
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The story line is lost in what the author calls romance. It was brought in to soon and in an immature way.

More About the Author

I'm southern by adoption. I was born and raised in Upstate NY, but when the cold weather, snow and ice became more than either my hubby or I wanted to endure yearly, we migrated to Florida. We now live not far from one of the most fascinating cities in the US -- our adopted hometown of St. Augustine, the oldest city in the US. When my creative writing juices dry up, a trip to the the Ancient City section of St. Augustine never fails to get them flowing again.
