5.0 out of 5 stars liked it better than the first although i wanted to smack the girls at times
An extravagant sequel to Hailey Abbots original Summer Boys. This sequel takes place where the original did, Pebble Beach. It has the girls from the first summer excluding Jamie who goes off to a writing course for the summer and including Kelsi whose boyfriend broke her heart last summer. Beth this summer is trying to survive being without George, her wonderfully sweet...

An extravagant sequel to Hailey Abbots original Summer Boys. This sequel takes place where the original did, Pebble Beach. It has the girls from the first summer excluding Jamie who goes off to a writing course for the summer and including Kelsi whose boyfriend broke her heart last summer. Beth this summer is trying to survive being without George, her wonderfully sweet and funny boyfriend who has to stay home for the summer and work while Beth goes to the beach. Ella who is trying so hard to give up her wild ways and become a one-man woman. And Kelsi, who had her heart broken last year, is trying to find love. During this summer secrets will be reviled that could either make or break relationships and in the end the reader will be satisfied...I think this book is better than the first.

4.0 out of 5 stars great!, June 29, 2006
A Kid's Review
Next summer is better than summer boys. The tuttle girls (kelsi, ella, beth minus jamie) go back to the beach. Beth is totally in love with george but sad that he can't go with her this time so she can't help but like the attention of the hot lifegaurd. Kelsi, after what happened last time, wants a boy-free summer but keeps seeing the frat boy Tim, who she thinks is not her type but who knows? :) Ella, is tired of all the hookups and just wants a perfect guy. She finds one, but for once, she can't attract him!

I loved the ending. It's wonderful. Such a happy ending. Can't wait to read 'Oh Baby'!

4.0 out of 5 stars Light hearted Beach read, April 21, 2006
This is a good book to take to the beach. It's really short but packs a punch; one that could be absorbed easily in a day. Unlike like most teen chick lit books it's about normal like girls. They aren't ridiculously rich nor obscenely gorgeous, so it's easy to see yourself in them. Three cousins that go through ups and downs about how they should feel verse how they do feel. You root each one of them on, but you know they'll end up back to the old familiar ways, or familiar faces. It's a good sequel and one that shouldn't be missed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Summer teen read, June 17, 2006
This is the second of the Summer boys series and it's good. These books remind me of some cheap, lame, predictable yet you-can't-help-but-watch t.v. drama on ABC Family. I'm 17 yrs old and an avid reader so these books seem kind of pointless but I CAN'T PUT T DOWN! I can't wait to see what happens next to these 4 Tuttle girls.

On a more critical note, if your looking for a mind blowing novel this isn't it. This is a good one day reader for the beach. Honestly, it's like a t.v. drama. It's so addicting!

4.0 out of 5 stars better..., June 15, 2006
Although better than the first one, Next Summer is still somewhat flawed. The Tuttle family, back in Pebble Beach a year later minus Jamie, settles in for another summer of deception. Beth is upset when George has to stay home and work for the summer, yet she recovers quickly when she meets Adam, the easy-on-the-eyes lifeguard. Elle is still filled with guilt about helping Peter to cheat on Kelsey last summer, so she decides to go after a 'good boy', but he seems uninterested. Kelsey, who saw Peter with some girl, is determined to find out who that girl was, not knowing that it was Elle. However, Kelsey is sidetracked by adorable Tim. Next Summer definitely picks up the pace.

When she finds out it was Ella, she completely excludes Ella from her life and makes the summer for Ella dreadful. Manipulative Ella has fallen in love with a geeky nerd- the only guy who so far hasn't fallen for her charms and Beth is madly in love with George, but will she forget all about him when a new guy pops up at the beach?

This book was so much better than the previous book but there was still the flirty aroma that flaundered around in Summer Boys. Still a pretty good book.

5.0 out of 5 stars This Book Rocked!, November 12, 2005
This was probably one of the best books i have ever read. Even better then the first one. I could not put it down and every teen girl should read this. Some stuff may not be approprite for ages younger than 13 but i found this book to be one of the ones that you can never put down.. Absoutly my favorite book/series of all time!

5.0 out of 5 stars Summer boys!!!, January 27, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I loved this book, so cute and funny. I never wanted to put it down, i do wish it was longer. I love the whole connection with each of the main characters being cousins, it gives it this bond you wish you had. The boys in the book made you wish they were real, amazing book for when you just want to get away from the stress. Great read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Book, February 17, 2009
I really enjoyed the book. I will continue reading books from this authors. I enjoyed the overall story of the book, three girls' summer beach trips. All girls have many boy problems, and suffer from much drama, but the book is funny and cute overall. The story really emphasized the theme of "live your life to the fullest, minute by minute."

4.0 out of 5 stars It's The Summer To Remeber, December 12, 2008
This summer makes up for last. Next Summer was a lot better than Summer Boys. Next Summer there was less drama, Jamie wasn't sitting in her room thinking about Ethan 24/7, and George and Beth made it threw there long distance relationship. Ella also tried to be a little miss goodie to shoes like she wanted. Even though there were so many boys around for her to get. I believe this was a better book written by Hailey Abbott. I also would recommend this book to any teenage girl who is looking for a good book, even if you didn't like the first one because this book is way better.
