Maugham is one of my favorite authors, with "Of Human Bondage" my favorite of his works. Summing Up is a wonderful review of the thoughts he has had throughout his life on various subjects: life, death, religion, writing, and more. His fresh, easy-to-read style pulls you in and it was a delight to read. In my opinion, the best part is the ending, where he confronts three key values in life: beauty, truth, and goodness. Many of his insights definitely fit to today. A favorite quote "The great tragedy of life is not that men perish, but that they cease to love."
