I purchased this not because I was interested in bugs, but because I scream like a little girl and need the help of others to get bugs out if one ends up in the house.
Well, anyway, last night, I had to use it, and it ended much better for both me and the bug. Normally they must die, and someone else must get rid of it, but now I was able to capture it alive and without help. I then deposited it peacefully outside, and we were both able to go about our business. I didn't bother asking the bug what kind he was, but it was a nasty "little" fellow maybe about an inch long, smaller than a roach though. I wasn't sure if the vacuum would be able to handle it, but it didn't seem to have any issues. I haven't owned it long enough yet to say how long it will last, but I haven't had any issues so far.

I bought this for my grand daughter who seemed very interested in bugs and wasn't afraid of them. She's 6 yrs. old. I bought this along with the Bug Habitat by the same company and I was pleased with both products. The vacuum had batteries loaded right out of the blister packaging and I was a bit disappointed in the low power of the vacuum and couldn't imagine it picking up any bugs. Then it dawned on me that it had probably been on the shelf a while so I suggested putting in fresh batteries. That did the trick and within a few minutes she had caught 6 crickets, 2 spiders, and a small grasshopper. A good, educational toy and I highly recommend it...just change the batteries upon receipt.

We bought this toy for our 5 year old son, he loves it. His three year old brother has fun with it too. The two of them run around the house searching bugs to vacuum up. Then they stare at them for a few minutes and we release them (or squash them when the kids are not looking, that'll teach those bugs to stay out of my house)
The suction is a little gentle, I guess that's needed so the bugs are collected alive and unhurt. This is more of a capture and study toy than it is a household bug eradication device. Either way, it works as advertised. ***Works great catching stink bugs!***** We have been overun with stink bugs this summer, and predictions are that next summer will be worse. Turns out this toy is great at catching stinkbugs without getting their stink all over your house!
