5.0 out of 5 stars Great bank
My kid loves dropping his coins into the bank. Mommy loves that it adds the coins so she knows when its worthwhile to haul to the bank. Although, I swear sometimes depending on how you drop in the coin, it records the wrong amount. Works 99% of the time with correct coin recognition - its just when the 3 year old gets a little rammy with dropping the coins - definitely...

1.0 out of 5 stars Counting mechanism makes too many mistakes.
This bank is probably great for the kid who has an occasional coin to save, but the counting mechanism is a little too faulty for someone who really wants to "count their pennies". Oftentimes when my son puts in a nickel it registers a quarter. That might be fine if you notice at the time AND have the money to add to make up the difference, but if not, then your counter...

This bank is probably great for the kid who has an occasional coin to save, but the counting mechanism is a little too faulty for someone who really wants to "count their pennies". Oftentimes when my son puts in a nickel it registers a quarter. That might be fine if you notice at the time AND have the money to add to make up the difference, but if not, then your counter won't be accurate for the contents. Overall we aren't satisfied with this product.

The style also doesn't match what was in the picture on Amazon, but that has nothing to do with the bank itself. Just beware that what you receive may not be what you ordered.

I'm sure that if the bank you receive works, the kids would love it. Unfortunately, I bought two for my twins and neither worked from the day we received them. With some things (as you parents know), once a child has the toy, the concept of sending something back, just because it lost its educational value, is incomprehensible to a 4-year old.

The bank was much smaller than I had expected. I am sure the gift will be enjoyed; what kid doesn't like money? I just thought it would be bigger.

Okay, lets be honest - I'm 22, and I am awful at saving money.

That's okay though, because this money jar helps a little. The concept is simple - it counts the change you put into it. Previously, I have kept money jars but taken the money out. However, with this jar - I know that if I take money out the count will be off.

The count isn't perfectly accurate, but it's very close. I think It's mistaken a dime for a penny once or twice. It's less than 1% off when full I'd say. Some will complain you can't undo mistakes, but that's precisely the point. If I could remove from the value I'd be tempted to spend.

There is something about the jar keeping an accurate count of my money that prevents me from wanting to take out. It is truly helping me spend.

Since buying this, I have purchased it for 3 friends, and my brother also has one.

We have a few of these at work for people to dump their loose change into (we then count the loose change and donate it to charity). However have been times where you have to force the coin in, and when you do it mis-registers. (a nickle is seen as a quarter, and a dime as a nickle) thereby giving false reads for the total.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun Way to save change and know how much is there., December 21, 2008

I'm an adult and got this for myself so that I'll know how much change is there and when to roll it. When I first opened the box and saw the white box I thought man it's going to be small. Well that was an optical illision it is hefty. It's like a shorter fatter Quart canning Jar.

I went gathering all my change around the house here and there and found I already had $16.78 that was a surprise.

I'd say this is great gift for kids and adults. It makes you want to save and fun to see the total go up with each coin. If one has severe arthritis or a very young child you may have some trouble pushing the coins in, you do have to push them they don't just drop in like a piggy bank.

I will say that it does count the Golden dollar coins as Quarters but thats no biggie for me as I hardly ever have any. If It has a bit more than it states all the better.

Works exactly as expected, and the batteries last a long time. Its a bit stiff for little fingers to push the coins through.

Both my Son and my Daughter received this bank for Christmas and they love it. They have been using this bank for several weeks now without any problem. It has made it fun for them to save their money up. It's cool how it automatically counts all of your change and gives the total on the LCD screen. The screen never turns off so you can easily check you balance at any time. It's a really good bank but I wish they would have made larger.

Easy to use, durable and fun. Our kids love to use this money jar and it has really been a great learning tool. It is easy for an adult to reset, for the money to be recounted and recounted.
