Nothing fancy, but works as advertised. Great to watch crickets and spiders crawl around in.

The girls loved this habitat. They can watch bugs without worrying the bugs might get out. Hoping the educational side will help alleviate some of their fears. So far, so good!!! We got the habitat in conjunction with the bug vacuum. They LOVE the vacuum!!!

Great item for home & classroom!,
This review is from: Backyard Safari Bug Habitat (Toy)
We purchased this bug habitat for our 4K class, and the children have loved it! It's a sturdy acrylic habitat, and it is hinged at the back for easy cleaning. Per the instructions, I added a little sand and some water (for the "waterfall") prior to transferring bugs. So far, a few pill bugs, a beetle and a caterpillar have taken up residence with no dire consequences.
In a classroom environment, I recommend additional magnifying glasses. We haven't used the tweezers. We did purchase the mini-vacuum to pick up bugs. It doesn't seem as powerful as the standard bug vacuum from Backyard Safari, but it does pick up what we need, and is small enough for 4- and 5-year-old children to handle more easily. Overall, it is reasonably priced, easy to use - and a definite improvement to less expensive mesh insect holders, with more space for the creepy crawlers, and the security and visibility the clear acrylic cover provides.
