My 8 year old saved his book reading money for most of a year to get this safe and loves it. The safe is well designed with a default code if turned off, the combination is easily changed and there is even a manual over ride for opening when the batteries are dead. The number buttons work well, and the laser beam system works well too, but my son was very upset that the finger print reader was make believe, being nothing more than a piece of plastic. Our younger son who is 6 is so impressed by his big brother's safe, that he now wants to learn how to read so he can save up money to get one too. Normally a good price for this toy is $25, but we were able to get a pink girl's version at Toy's R us for $12.49. Went back and got a second one for our youngest would be reader so he can have one too, once he learns how. I never dreamed that his toy would have such an impact, and am thrilled that my 6 year old is now determined to learn how to read.
