We took a lengthy car trip and this book was an intriguing story that made time go fast

Both books included with this CD are vintage John Grisham with lawyers in trouble or trying to get somebody out of trouble. I really enjoyed the writing. My only complaint is that I didn't notice upfront that Michael Beck reads "The Brethren". I recognized his breathy hyper-dramatic style from the first sentence. He voices text like "Joe finished her salad" as if he were actually reading "Joe strangled her with his belt". The silliness of it pulls the reader out of the story. I encountered his reading another book before but wasn't paying attention when I ordered this one. I will remeber to avoid books read by him in the future.

Loved the stories, thought the speaker was wonderful with his voice changes. definitely for those commuting and sitting in that traffic, on long trips. or relaxing somewhere. .

I havent had a chance to hear The Summons yet, but The Brethren was a very nice listen. It is so much nicer to have a book-on-cd to listen to during a long trip than just normal music. Music gets old, a good grisham novel pulls you in. If you have a shorter trip (or if you arent very patient) you might want to check out abbridged versions of his books.
