Book Description

ANDREW BOSTOM calls it "...a potboiling, film noire parable of a yarn...gripping and fast-paced detective-written, detective story...let’s encourage the truly “braver” hearts in Hollywood to make the movie version of A Summons To Perdition."

DIANA WEST: "A must-read for any American still unsure just how close we are to losing it all to jihad.'

J.D. WELCH, a retired detective, receives an urgent request from a prominent criminal defense investigator who wants to hire the former cop to locate a missing eighteen year old girl. She's disappeared with her Egyptian lover, who is one of a seven-member terrorist cell that’s been dispatched on a jihad mission which will kill hundreds of Americans.

Is she dead? Has she been kidnapped? Or has she become a slave of human trafficking?

A foreign-born conspiracy based on archaic historically accurate mandates from the founder of Islam, another unthinkable act of large-scale terrorism inside the U.S.A., murder, and some solid investigative work by two aging retired American cops all combine to make this novel a memorable thriller.

Review

ANDREW BOSTOM calls it:  "Retired detective and writer John Work has woven a potboiling, film noire parable of a yarn ...gripping and fast-paced detective-written, detective story...let's encourage the truly "braver" hearts in Hollywood to make the movie version of A Summons To Perdition."

"This is a good, if very unsettling, read.
The story is taut and well told; the ending not one we would wish upon ourselves...But be warned, you're in for a few nights of very restless sleep afterwards while you mull over all the information the author puts before you." - Alana Woods at Goodreads

From the Author

This is a disturbing journey into a private investigation that turns very ugly.  What looks at first glance like a routine missing persons case pulls a couple of aging retired cops hired as private investigators into an international jihad conspiracy - and coincidentally into the middle of World War III.

It's pretty tough stuff, especially in this politically correct culture that's closed its eyes to what's really happening in the world.  There's lots of action and suspense.  You'll find that the story's not over when you think it is.

Best wishes,

John L. Work

5.0 out of 5 stars An exciting and terrifying novel February 17, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
John L Work's first two novels are well worth anyone's time and money; this one is no exception.

JD Welch and his former cop partner, Joe, are brought out of retirement to do a private job, locating a young woman who has fallen in love with a Middle Eastern man and subsequently disappeared. Has she eloped or is there something more sinister going on?

The plot begins with JD being approached by a character from his previous novels, Mike Wolseki, to find his grand-daughter, Patty Curtis. The task appears to be - not easy, but reasonably straightforward - with the assistance of Patty's room mate Mandy.

Things go downhill from there. The pace builds slowly but inexorably, drawing the reader into the horrific events surrounding the girl's disappearance.

John Work is a past-master at creating the actual fear which the reader feels and laying out the actual historical events preceding the crime.

I don't want to give a spoiler, suffice to say that this is an outstanding book and should be read by everyone who comes across it.

I hope the novel which John Work is currently crafting is another JD Welch investigation and we haven't seen the last of this pleasant, practical character.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must Read if you can handle the Truth June 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition
I read this book in one day. Trust me you will not be able to put it down once you start reading it.
Is this happening in the world today? You decide after reading it and doing some research on the internet.
You only have to look at what is happening in Egypt and read something other than what the main stream media has to say to learn and decide if you will fight for our Country to remain free or sit back and and drink the kool-aid .

This is a fascinating and disturbing book! When reading, it was very difficult to put down. The author has obviously done a lot of research on the Muslim religion. I highly recommend this book!
