best CD from one of my favorite bands,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sumo Surprise (Audio CD)
Ghoti Hook. This is the best punk CD I have ever listened to. Hooks, riffs galore, it's intellegent, original, and funny. Great vocals, tight drums and original guitar and bass come together in a way rarely seen on a first album. I own hundreds of CD's, but this is one i still listen to often - even after owning it for several years. Not something I can say about 99% of the other CD's I own.

Great melodic/thrash punk!,

Yes, thats right. Melodic yet thrashy punk. Ghoti hook serves up one of the most unique sounds I've heard yet. Blazing guitars, jumpy bass, and fast drums. Yet the singer has an incredibly smooth voice, with great carry. There are a couple songs I don't care much for, but the good songs (and most of them are good) far outweigh the bad ones. Highlights on the disc are Dry Run, Shrinky Dinks, Super Sumo, Tract Boy, and Body Juggler.

One Heck Of A Freshman Release,
This review is from: Sumo Surprise (Audio CD)
For a band's first release, this is an incredible album. It delivers in every way: musically, the band is as tight as can be; spiritually, there are songs that talk about witnessing for Christ ("Tract Boy"); and lyrically, the songs are basically fun and silly! It's great punk rock; better than the rest, though. The guitar hooks will ring in your ears for months as you sing "Ooklah the Punk" to yourself. It's no doubt that every review including this one has given the album 5 stars...it's well worth your money!
