Super Compilation, July 15, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Sun Blues Collection: Blue Flames (Audio CD)
Too bad this one isn't available. This is a single disc compilation boiled down from the larger and impossible to find Sun Blues Box released by Charley a few years ago. Long before Sam Philips ever heard of Elvis, he was recording blues and gospel music in his Sun studios. This is absolutely essential material for any blues lover. Sam was the man from Memphis who would've given the Chess brothers a run for their money had he stayed in the blues game.

Don't pay $200 for this! It's NOT a rarity., November 27, 2004
This review is from: Sun Blues Collection: Blue Flames (Audio CD)
Yes, this title is out-of-print, but it's NOT a "rare CD" or a collector's item (it came out in 1990!) Instead, look for "Sun Records: Ultimate Blues Collection," released in 2003 on Varese Sarabande records. That title is a three-CD set that contains all the songs included in "Blue Flames" plus 57(!) more--for less than $30. Just look around other music or book stores; almost any should be able to order it for you if you don't have it.
