4.0 out of 5 stars another nice set, October 17, 2000

She is definatly one of the fastest up and rising stars in the DJ community. In the last year alone she's made more accomplishments than most make in their whole life time. Blending her own live vocals into her house sets she has the ability to draw you in like a siren and this Cd is no let down. My only complaint is that she constantly mixes in her "Try her for Love" release into almost all of her stuff. This Cd is also a break from some of her other demo releases as she makes a more relaxed and easy listening experience. That aside this is a really good Cd for easier listening and not for the hardcore pounding beats that most DJ's throw down today. If you've never heard her before you'll be in for a nice treat and something a little different.

4.0 out of 5 stars mixing crunchy house with her own voice for a unique take, January 27, 2001
This review is from: In the Sun (Audio CD)
DJ Colette has a secret to share; she considers herself a singer first and foremost, despite her mark on the Chicago party scene and 1/3 of DJ collective SuperJane (also including DJ Heather). Here, as she does live, it's the mixing of her two talents making In The Sun so festive - a feat that could have been easily fumbled from excessive showing off.

Which is certainly not the case, with her voice morphing through effects and applying judicious restraint on the mic. More importantly for the cause, however, are the deliciously crunchy cuts chosen for the mix; Hipp-E, one of 2000's brightest spots on the scene, lays down a percusive stormer for Collette to drop echo lines over, dittos with Angel Alanis's "Subsequential Life," before reaching a fevered peak with the stunning warp-house "To The Music" by the Mojolators. Singing on half the tracks, the premise burns brightest when insinuating soulful lines over the deep bleeps of "Revelation."

By this time you've long forgotten any notion of concept-packaging or novel approach; lost in the beat, lights spinning around your head, you'll be caught riding the groove...reaching to hit play one more time.
