Not for serious Tattoo seekers,
By Cisco Leon "cisco_leon" (New York, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sun & Moon Vol.II (Plastic Comb)
I bought this book hoping for UNIQUE tattoo designs to use as the basic foundation/outline for my first tattoo. Upon recieving the package, I was bitterly disappointed to find the quality of the actual pictures. These pictures are NOT unique. They appear as though they have been hand-drawn by a child, and appear on any tattoo-parlour's generic wall paper. It was not what I expected. It was not artistic or unique. The designs are very generic and commercial. I don't want to knock the the artist for this one, rather I think the advertising is misleading. If you are looking for artistic pieces of work, rather than simple cartoon stencils (not dis-similar to that of stick-on tattoo stickers), then this is not the book for you. Your first tattoo can be a daunting decision, and being individual and expressive is critical, and this book did not help me along that path. I am wary now of other similar books. Surfing the internet, I found many of the designs found in this book. Spend carefully. Visit a tattoo parlour instead. Time is money - and your time actually visiting tattoo parlours rather than buying books would be better worthwhile. |
