Important Information

Directions
Apply before exposure to the sun.

Product Description

No guessing, no forgetting! These color-changing wristbands alert you when it's time to reapply sunscreen or even seek shade. Each time during the day that you cover your child with sunscreen, just coat the UV wristband, too. Adjustable, waterproof, and disposable. Calibrated to work with sunscreens SPF 15 and higher. Sun monitors are sensitive to both UVA and UVB rays. For ages 12 months and up. Activate the sun monitor by exposing to sunlight; it will turn purple. Then, coat it with the same sunscreen you're applying to your child's skin. The wristband turns brown when it's time to reapply sunscreen and turns peach when it's time to get out of the sun. (Turns peach when your child's skin has reached its "mean erythema dose" or MED threshold, which is the amount of sun that causes the initial reddening of the skin.) Recoat the band each time you reapply sunscreen, and then toss at the end of the day Stays on well in water and continues to monitor sun exposure in water

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the fair-skinned May 28, 2009

I have fair freckly skin that burns easily and I often accidentally get sunburned because I don't realize I've been in the sun too long until it's too late. These wristbands help you decide when it's time to put on more sunscreen and time to get out of the sun.

It's not completely obvious from the directions which colors mean "reapply sunscreen" and "get out of the sun", but I think it probably depends on how fair your skin is. I just reapplied sunscreen when it was sort of peachy-colored and got out of the sun when it started to get a little yellowy. Over the three sunny days boating on a lake, I didn't get even a little sunburned.

5.0 out of 5 stars Makes days in the sun much easier June 15, 2010
These things are really smart for long days in the sun. You put them on before going outside, then apply sunscreen, completely covering the band. When you go out in the sun it turns bright purple. The band will start to fade the longer you stay out - you reapply sunscreen when it turns lavender. When the band turns almost white - it's time to go in.

For someone with super pale skin who burns after being outside for a few minutes, these things are a lifesaver. I've spent 6 hours out in the blazing sun and been totally fine. Definitely a summer staple.

1.0 out of 5 stars UVSunSense UV Exposure Monitoring Wristband 7 ea December 20, 2010

The wristbands do not work. They were tested by my daughter at a beach volleyball tournament here in South Florida...she tried two different bands and neither worked. I bought two packs and am sorry I did.

1.0 out of 5 stars worthless
Tried these since I couldn't find any silicone reusable wristbands like the one I received in a promo bag last year. Found it helpful to remind you about sun strength. Read more

4.0 out of 5 stars Not sure if it works.
Yes it turns purple but it never goes back to a normal color and it turns purple in the regular light inside my house. I still thought they were cool though!

These are great! I wasn't sure if they would work, but they do, and are very reliable. They let you know when to reapply more sunscreen, and when to get out of the sun. Great buy! Read more
