This review is from: The Sun Records Collection (Audio CD)
This is one of the best Sun Records compilations available. It's 2 discs packed full of a wide array of Sun's artists. Most of the greats are here (Carl Perkins, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, Charlie Rich, Johnny Cash, etc.), with ample tracks from each. I especially like that this collection includes Ike Turner and Jackie Brenston's "Rocket 88," which is widely considered to be the first true rock and roll song. The packaging and artwork are pretty basic here. There are far more attractive box-sets out there, but for sheer musical value, this is among the best for my money. I also really like the 3 disc "Sun Records Anthology" because it includes Elvis as well.
