5.0 out of 5 stars JOY Overdose
I bought this CD on a whim after hearing it mentioned in a magazine article - forgot which - as a good CD for a pleasant ambience.
'Pleasant?' Talk about understatement.
You will want to tell others about it as soon as you hear the first four or five tracks. But then when you get to track 8, there will be a door opening inside you that is marked "To...

2.0 out of 5 stars Couldn't get into this one...
I have 2 CD's by this artist. I bought one for relaxation, massage, mediatation, and one to impart a bright and lively mood for the beginning of the day. This recording is OK, but not special in my opinion. The music is bright and lively, but for me, not engaging or inspired and doesn't seem to have a flow. I bought this CD on a whim after hearing it mentioned in a magazine article - forgot which - as a good CD for a pleasant ambience.
'Pleasant?' Talk about understatement.
You will want to tell others about it as soon as you hear the first four or five tracks. But then when you get to track 8, there will be a door opening inside you that is marked "To Heaven". Track 9, the last track, is the best on the CD, in my opinion, and the one that removes the usefulness of the English vocabulary to try to describe it. It's the most intoxicatingly ecstasy-promoting music I've heard.
There is an NLP (neurolinguistic progrmaming) technique that involves you thinking and feeling about a highly positive emotionally charged past event, and then you create a physical anchor such as applying pressure to a finger while thinking about it. (It's good for job interviews or other anxiety producing times.) Track nine is my background music when I go through the process of creating an anchor, and it works so well!

5.0 out of 5 stars Pure Joy!!, September 3, 2001
By
This review is from: Sun Spirit (Audio CD)
I have been inspired by Deuter's music ever since I heard his album Ecstacy in the early 80's. All of his music puts me in touch with my spirit. And this one is no exception. Once again Deuter enfolds with his enchanting embrace. All nine selections are infused with the feeling tones of joy and upliftment. If this music was a wine I would have to say it is champagne -- pure sparkling golden effervescent bubbly.

Each of the nine vignettes makes me feel as if my spirit has taken a holiday to a lush and idyllic tropical island where the sun shines all day long while little billowing white clouds float along in the sky. Then at night I sense the full moon casting is silvery rays off of the calm ocean waves, shimmering and iridescent.

Apres La Pluie, track 4, is one of my favorites. Opening with the beat of tabla drums, as if waves are rhythmically lapping the shore, it sets the stage for the entrance of Deuter's recorder flutes. At first, one magical songbird starts singing while the sun's rays poke over the horizon at dawn. In a little while more birds join in with their songs. Then, as if a warm gentle breeze is rising up off of the ocean, the synthesized strings add their lush texture.

Whether you want to relax or daydream or take an inner journey, I can only give this work my highest recommendation. You won't regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Delightful, July 7, 2008
This review is from: Sun Spirit (Audio CD)
Sun Spirit and Koyasan are my favourite Deuter's cd's.
Sun Spirit is delicate yet strong, fiery yet gentle, enthusiastic yet ecstatic, melodic yet ungraspable by the monkey mind. A truly delicious composition for all sorts of activities and non activities. Delicate dance of piano en flute with a very very slight south American scent?

5.0 out of 5 stars Depends On What You Need, March 17, 2008
This review is from: Sun Spirit (Audio CD)
It's been my experience that you get exactly what you need when you need it. This CD is a great example of that...I am very familiar with Deuter's works, using them very often with client sessions; it's always restful and contemplative. But, in my life at the moment, I needed something joyful and hopeful to remind me of the truth of things and that's what this music provides. This is music to correct a gray frame of mind and when I listen to it, I am easily able to visualize the warmth of the bright sun on a cloudless sky. When you seem enveloped in the fog of worry, put this on...it will chase the clouds away even for a short while. For today, listen to something that brings joy...believe...the rest will follow.

I was looking for music I could put on in the morning as background as I started my day and find myself smiling over. I just found this mildly irritating. My other Deuter CD, "Wind & Mountain" is wonderful and perfect for all of the relaxing applications that I had in mind when I bought it. I have listened to Sun Spirit serveral times and at different times of the day, just to give it a fair listen, but I don't like it and won't be keeping it in my collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars New Fan of Deuter..Bright and LIvely, April 23, 2010

I am new to Deuater. When listening to samples on another album I too quickly dismissed his music. I then began to listen to Liquid Mind (which is also quite awesome). This is my first Deuter album, but I get that he generally is relaxing and good for meditation or massage. What I absoluely LOVE about this album is that it IS relaxing but lively and engergizing. It refreshes me, not drains me. I feel SO good after listening to it. I love the recorders on this album (I am sure I have identified them right0, and how they dance together on some of the songs. I downloaded all but one song. I didn't feel that one of the songs gelled very well or flowed as well. This album will be one of my summer gems to listen to. I love it!!! I love to listen to it while I play trains with Nick or when I am in my gardne. I am plotting my next Deuter album to get...stay tuned!! I would HIGHLY recommend.

I found this cd to be relaxing and yet uplifting at the same time. Dueter always does a wonderful job in whatever he produces. It stirs our creative juices within with gentle nudges to go forth with our day and enjoy as well as create for ourselves.
