STORY BRIEF:
Three female friends from Chicago fly to a private island in the Pacific to a spa for erotic pleasures. The spa also has a rehabilitation center for injured soldiers. The three women meet and end up with three injured soldiers. The book is divided into three sections. Each section tells the story of one of the couples, how they met, became intimate and fell in love. One of the soldiers has an injured leg, another has lost some of his vision and the third, a sniper, has lost touch with his emotions.

REVIEWER'S OPINION:
If someone is looking for a lot of hot sex scenes, this should do it. For me, I prefer a little more character development, more cleverness and interesting conversation. In other words, I like erotica which has other things with it. This is strictly erotica, and it's ok for that purpose. It's not a waste of money. Note for some readers: there is some light bondage and rear door activity.

DATA:
Story length: 274 pages. Sexual language: strong/erotic. Number of sex scenes: 13. Length of sex scenes: 0.5 to 13.7 pages. Total number of sex scene pages: 72. Setting: current day private island in the Pacific. Copyright: 2008. Genre: erotic contemporary romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sun Stroked- A Joyfully Recommended Title, November 20, 2008
This review is from: Sun Stroked (Mass Market Paperback)
Abby, Lauren, and Danielle have traveled to the "O" Spa for a last minute two-week vacation. Each woman anticipates drinking the island's top-secret `magic' elixir, knowing that it is probably a hoax but each wishes the magic to be a reality.

"The Sensual Soak"

Danielle Carrigan is an interior designer with hidden, secret needs. Wanting to be truly dominated in the bedroom, she has yet to trust a man enough to tell him her desires. When she sees Ethan Sharpe on the beach after arriving at her cabin, Danielle is intrigued and enchanted by the handsome weapons expert. Before the night is over, Danielle will know beyond a doubt that Ethan has a gun and he knows exactly how to use it.

I fell in love with Ethan Sharpe the exact second he was introduced. What woman in her right mind wouldn't? He is handsome, fiery, sensual, and utterly dominating in the bedroom. He made me shiver and I wasn't even cold. His willingness and desire to please Danielle was the icing on the cake.

"The Pleasure Pool

Lauren Sampson has come to the island with the hopes of finding the one man on this planet that doesn't see her chest before seeing her. Used to men talking to her breasts and wanting to be with her for her body, Lauren is thrilled when she comes across Ryan Thomas. When she hesitantly tells him her desires of being taken by a forceful man relying upon touch alone, Ryan sets out to prove to her that touch is everything.

Ryan Thomas is one naughty captain. Hurt in an accident while on duty, Ryan has to rely on his memory and touch in order to function in his new visually impaired life. When he meets Lauren he senses in her a secret almost hedonistic side that calls to the erotic man that he is. And he was erotic. He was the perfect hero for Lauren.

"The Sunset Sauna"

Abby Benton has her life planned out. Planning on marrying a safe man and having the politically correct amount of children is on her list. Sniper Cody Lannon is not. On medical leave, Cody Lannon spends his time watching people on the island through his sniper scope. When he sees luscious Abby Benton on her patio, he is aroused and instantaneously hooked. Add in a valiant rescue while snorkeling and Abby is hooked on Cody as well. Their love affair scorches through the pages but what happens at the end of their vacation? Will Abby forget her plans for her sniper?

Sun Stroked set the pages on fire. Each and every love scene explodes into fiery sensuality that will melt your heart. Tastefully written but withholding nothing back, Sun Stroked has taken three interchanging stories and characters and come across as a winning combination. I have officially decided that I need a Malik in my life since he orchestrates the entire island. I wonder if he makes house calls because I would love some of that elixir. Don't miss Sun Stroked - it is blazing hot!

5.0 out of 5 stars An erotice Fantasy Island!, November 4, 2008

Summer might be over, but things will be heating up this November when Cathryn Fox's new anthology from NAL Trade hits the bookstores! SUN STROKED will be sure to steam up even the coldest winter night, and warm the hearts of readers in every climate.

Danielle, Lauren, and Abby arrive at the `O Spa' nestled in the seclusion of a private island ready to let their hair down and see just what the resort's legendary magical elixir can do for them. The elixir is said to fulfill your most coveted fantasy.

Ethan, Ryan, and Cody are on the island recuperating from injuries sustained during the course of their jobs in the military. A little of that magical elixir is just what the doctor ordered when three very special women arrive on the island.

SUN STROKED is a veritable erotic Fantasy Island, complete with its own version of the cryptic Mr. Roarke in the form of the mysterious match-making Malik, who helps his guests obtain what they most desire.

~THE SENSUAL SOAK~

Just once, Danielle wants to let herself go with a man who can handle her inner submissive. Ethan seems just the man for the job...

I think that Danielle and Ethan's story would be my favorite of the three, if I absolutely had to pick one. Once they meet, they are drawn to each other immediately and their romance takes off, despite Ethan's doubts that Danielle will want him after she sees his leg injury.

Danielle's big heart embraces him without reservation, and the love she bestows on him soon makes him realize he is no less of a man than he was before his injury, restoring his own belief in himself.

And the things that man can do with a few jungle vines still send the most wonderful shivers up my spine...

~THE PLEASURE POOL~

Lauren has been plagued by boyfriends who want her body, with no consideration for who the woman is. She longs for a man who will see the person behind the curves, a man who can be her friend and lover.

The story continues when Lauren and Ryan find each other. While it takes Ryan a few days longer than Ethan to make his move, it isn't long before he succumbs to his attraction to the voluptuous Lauren. While his vision might be badly damaged, he can see who she is very clearly, and likes what he sees. His fear? That she won't want him once she realizes the extent of his disability.

Of course, Lauren is a woman of substance, and would never judge based on something as superficial as a little injury. She's been a victim of just that sort of thing her entire adult life, albeit with a different slant.

The scenes between this couple are heart-meltingly sweet and bone-meltingly hot! What Ryan has lost in sight, he more than makes up for with his tactile senses - something readers enjoy just as much as lucky Lauren does.

~THE SUNSET SAUNA~

About to become engaged to her boyfriend, this vacation is Abby's last hurrah, so to speak. Having never experienced passion, Abby believes it doesn't exist and so is content to settle for a man she believes she can have a good life with, even without love.

But everything changes when she meets Cody...

Just once, Abby wants to experience good sex. Passion, even. She has heard it exists, but has never been lucky enough to experience it with any of her previous partners. Oh yeah, she has read about it in countless romance novels, but those are just fiction, right?

For all of us who are fans of the romance novel genre, seeing Abby learn that she can find romantic love outside the pages of a book is more than entertaining - it is inspiring. Oh to be in this heroine's shoes when Cody sets his sights on her... That's the stuff romantic fantasies are made of, I tell you.

Cody's job as a sniper has caused him to build a shell around his heart. He thinks he craves solitude, but when Abby breaks through his considerable military-honed defenses, he begins to rethink that belief.

With a little exhibitionism and some voyeurism, the scenes between Abby and Cody are tantalizingly decadent and bound to inspire fantasies of the erotic sort as well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun read you'll hate to put down, October 21, 2009

Sun Stroked is a fun, fast paced read that should not be overlooked. Contrary to some novella collections, the stories don't lose steam toward the end. Each story happened contemporaneous of the others, tying together to finish the story arc. The characters were in fact defined and realized, particularly given the length of their stories. The women were bold and very funny - real dames without becoming "too". The men were hot, vulnerable and sweet (Did I mention hot?). The stories were adult spicey, but not to the point of embarrassment or the "ewwww factor". I loved the book and am new fan of Cathryn Fox.

5.0 out of 5 stars The spa that keeps on giving, November 8, 2008

This review is from: Sun Stroked (Mass Market Paperback)
There's a reason why Cathryn Fox is my favourite erotica author -- she writes great erotic fantasy and couples it with tenderness. What more could a woman want? And that's what Sun Stroked delivers. This book is begging to be picked up on a cold winter's night and devoured in one long delicious read. It's got a spa on a tropical island and three steaming hot men to keep you company. Bring on the chocolate and revel in Sun Stroked!

4.0 out of 5 stars three well written whimsical tales of romance, November 4, 2008
This review is from: Sun Stroked (Mass Market Paperback)
"The Sensual Soak". Danielle Carrigan, Abby Benton and Lauren Sampson visit O Spa, the Oasis of Pleasure, on a small private South Pacific island where each hopes their deepest most secret desires are met as proclaimed about an exclusive magical elixir found only here. Danielle wants a man to dominate her, but she must be able to trust that he will not harm her. She wonders if injured soldier Ethan Sharpe is her passionate "Mr. Hardbody.

"The Pleasure Pool". Beautiful Lauren wants someone to appreciate the inner soul and not just her body. She remains restless as she wonders whether that recuperating from war injuries military hunk Ryan Thomas can see her inner soul and to herself she admits her body too.

"The Sunset Sauna". Engaged to marry Artie Drummond, a boring sex partner, Abby wants passion in bed not just with her food. The third recovering soldier buddy Cody Lannon seems perfect but very wary of becoming relationship prey instead of predator.

Mindful of Fantasy Island, but many degrees hotter (it is a Heat imprint); these are three well written whimsical tales of romance with a touch of magic in the air, beach, bedrooms, and a few other places.
