5.0 out of 5 stars Buyers beware
This is a very nice lawn ornament however it is very overpriced. I found another duplicate to this one for half the price. Buyers beware!

3.0 out of 5 stars looks like a mosquito
This is pretty but the stake is welded at such a spot that my son thought it was a mosquito! Not really worth the money even on sale.

This item is BIG, and very pretty. I left it out all winter, and it made it through very well, with no rust. Would definitely buy again!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not Worth It Unless You Need Cheap Copper Pieces, November 6, 2002

I received this product as a bonus for buying the Lg Woodstock P. Garden Bells. I like it more than the Garden Bells but it is still a really crude lawn ornament. The product design is crude. The actual dragonfly in the picture looks far more detailed and polished than the product I received. The copper is decent and if your garden features copper this might be a nice addition.

5.0 out of 5 stars Do they make a bigger one?, July 21, 2003
This review is from: SunSpots 99571 Dragonfly Garden Stake (Lawn & Patio)
I only recently became aware of how many funny and entertaining garden enchancements you can buy from a number of makers like Astonica, Woodstock, SunSpots, and others-- such as pink lawn flamingos. This dragonfly is bigger than the Astonica ones that are intended more for planters and is suitable for a standalone accent in the garden. It makes a good conversation starter, and you can tell your guest interesting trivia about them, such as that during the Coal Age or Carboniferous period 300 million years ago, they had dragonflies with 3-foot wingspans! That's hard to imagine, but they've theorized the air was thicker back then. Certainly these days with all the pompous political pundits and blowhards on the news pandering to the lowest common denominator the air is thicker in our time. Dragonflies have such a high rate of metabolism from their energetic flying that they can basically eat and sh_t continuously. Despite their amazing flying abilities, they're considered primitive insects since they have incomplete metamorphosis. Next time you see a dragonfly flying around a pond, notice how they often "patrol" the area by flying up and back along the edge of the pond rather than directly over the water. I haven't figured out what this is for yet, but it's interesting. Well, by now your guest is thoroughly bored with your science nerd comments and probably wants to take a hammer to your silly copper dragonfly on a stick. Anyway, this dragonfly is the closest thing to one of the big prehistoric ones, so for a little taste of Jurassic Park for your garden, this dragonfly will fill the bill.

I bought one of these last year and am now buying more. They develop a beautiful patina, and have a great impact in the garden. The color and finish makes the piece interesting in the garden without "stealing the show."

... this is a real bargain addition to my garden. It is sturdy and I expect it to be flying strong years from now. It looks great too - nothing cheap about its appearance. I set it among flowering bushes and am very pleased with the subtle coloring. I will buy more!

4.0 out of 5 stars Dragonfly adds charm and character, June 21, 2000

After starring as Peter Pan in a sixth grade play, I've always had a special fondness for dragonflies. This dragonfly does not disappoint and adds to my growing collection. I recommend it for anyone who loves dragonflies, or insects in general.
