Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Stylishly designed, this household iron produces steam without dripping, spitting, or leaking, even at low temperatures. The unit's Spray Mist system dampens fabric to aid in removing wrinkles from heavy fabrics and for setting creases. In addition, its Shot of Steam function provides an extra burst of steam to deeply penetrate and smooth out stubborn wrinkles. Holding the iron in a vertical position allows for using it as a steamer on hanging garments or drapes.

For safety, the iron offers three-way Motion Smart automatic shut-off. If the iron gets left in a horizontal position or accidentally tipped over, it will automatically stop heating after 30 seconds. If the iron gets left in a vertical position (on its heel rest), the iron will automatically turn off after 15 minutes. Even more, the unit's self-cleaning system prevents mineral build-up that can reduce the life of the iron. Other highlights include convenient thumb-tip controls, a nonstick soleplate, a Soft Touch grip for comfort, and a retractable cord. A complimentary water cup for ease of use in filling the water hole comes included. The iron measures approximately 12 by 5 by 6 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good for 1 year, February 25, 2007
This review is from: Sunbeam 4218 Steam Master Iron with Automatic Shut-Off (Kitchen)
I bought this iron just about a year ago, probably a little under a year, used it every day, and it was great until last week. The vertical steam function was nice, as was the adjustable steam level. A while ago the cord reel function stopped working well; the reel would only retract about half the cord and just stop. This was inconvenient, especially since one of the selling points is a retractable cord, but not enough to make me go looking for a new iron. Last week out of nowhere the steam function stopped working altogether (vertical, horizontal, various heat/steam settings, etc), so I'm had to use a 4-year old B&D which, while not as nice, worked. This was a nice iron, but even though it was relatively cheap it should have lasted more than a year.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good iron for the price, October 16, 2007
This review is from: Sunbeam 4218 Steam Master Iron with Automatic Shut-Off (Kitchen)
This is a great iron for the price. It does a great job getting the wrinkles out and I use it all the time. The only complaint that I have is that the retractable cord doesn't work well. I have to mash the button several times and sometimes force the cord in part way to make it work. I am a little irritated about that because it was a feature that I was excited about. But the overall job of the iron outweighs that one defect in my opinion. If you have $80 in your budget for an iron, I would get a Rowenta, but if you can only spend $30 (or $24 with a Bed Bath & Beyond 20% off coupon) this is the iron to get.

Works great love the auto shut-off function, the steam works wonders and the retractable cord is sweet. Good iron for its price.
