5.0 out of 5 stars Wow What a Value Amazon what a retailer
This mixer is reminiscent of the Sunbeam stand mixer my mother used to use. It was one of just a few appliances she had at her disposal. I wanted a nice stand mixer as well but my kitchen is overrun with plug in devices and having to dig it out of a closet would be a good reason to find another solution. I saw this one on eBay and as always I shopped around a little...

I purchased the Sunbeam, mixmaster hand mixer because it was not convenient to take the kitchenaid out every time I wanted to whip up something small. The mixer works fine, I am just not happy with the fact that 1st speed is so fast. This mixer is so fast that there is no speed to blend or fold ingredients in. Therefore, there is a lot of air mixed into your ingredients. Also, if bowl is short, the mixer throws ingredients out of the bowl. I would recommend that if you are in the market for a hand mixer, go the the store and try them out before you buy. The best mixer will allow you to gradually increase your speed just like a stand mixer.

1.0 out of 5 stars Small Airplane Engine, March 4, 2010
This review is from: Sunbeam 2526 6-Speed 220-Watt Hand Mixer, White (Kitchen)
If you want a small airplane engine stirring your food-this is the one for you. There is no low speed-only the fast, food-splattering speed. I was so relieved when one of the beaters stopped rotating. My whole family and I let out a loud hurray when I threw it away!

2.0 out of 5 stars Design Flaw, October 24, 2007
This hand mixer has what I would consider a serious design flaw. The power cord is on the right hand side of the mixer, making it maybe okay for mixing when your outlet is on the right, but terrible if your outlet is on the left. I was mixing up a batch of meringue buttercream and I had the stove on my right, heating my sugar and water, and the outlet on my left with this mixer beating my egg whites and by the time I was done I was completely frustrated and the mixer and electrical cord had buttercream all over because the cord kept getting over/in the bowl.

If you know you have an electrical outlet to the right of where you will be mixing, this mixer might be okay for you, but even then it doesn't stand up very well when you set it down on the counter so I still wouldn't recommend it.

1.0 out of 5 stars too fast on low speed, February 21, 2010

What happened to the low speed? Just too fast, throws stuff everywhere, not at all worth the hassle.

Please listen to other reviews about this mixer. There is no slow speed on this mixer and it goes from 0 to 200 in one second flat, sending whatever I'm mixing all over the counter and walls. I thought it was just me, but see others have the same issue.

2.0 out of 5 stars More like one speed - ultra fast, October 31, 2011
This review is from: Sunbeam 2526 6-Speed 220-Watt Hand Mixer, White (Kitchen)
I recently moved and during the move my mixer turned up missing. Not wanting to lay out alot of money for a replacement in case it turned up in some odd box somewhere, I picked this mixer up for a song as a substitute. I figured if my old mixer did not turn up I'd keep this one if it did a good job.
Needless to say, I was disappointed from the start. I don't care how many speeds they claim to have, the mixer has one, as far as I am concerned. Ultra fast.
I find my cakes are not mixed well as the mixer goes so hard that batter just gets flung around in the bowl. the batter is not smooth.
My chocolate chip cookies were spattered around rather then mixed, pieces ending up on my backsplash and counter.
And it is hard to use. the mixer is sized in such a way that it gets caught inside the lip of the bowl. Any size bowl I use. Something that has never happened before with other hand mixers I owned in the past.
I've not had the problem of no slower speeds or lack of real speed changes with other hand mixers in the past until this one.
since my old mixer never turned up and really disliking this one, I have ordered a Cuisinart hand mixer and hope to have better results.

Practically unusable in that the lowest speed is like the fastest speed on most other hand mixers. So food goes flying everywhere. Worse purchase I've ever made! I wonder if they even tested this mixer?! I thought it was so cool that the cord was retractable and the ergonomic design of the handle, but the most basic thing of the mixer doesn't even work. What a disaster... I hate it. DO NOT BUY!

**UPDATE**

I called up Sunbeam, and they sent me out a different hand mixer free of charge to replace this God awful one, so I thank them for stepping up and doing the right thing!

I saw this one on eBay and as always I shopped around a little and found Amazon much less expensive. Happens more and more these days ( Dropped Netflix and went to Amazon Prime ) I can watch movies cheaper than Netflix and if I want a little something I can get it in two days no problem and borrowing eBooks for my PC Kindle is great too and Amazon Market for Android what can I say. All around Amazon is increasing becoming my five star store of choice. Sorry about my praise of Amazon, back to the mixer. So affordable and powerful I do not miss the big stand mixer and it is so readily available without dirtying an additional container and easier to store. I am a coal miners daughter living in the hills of Tennessee where like most places today we have to watch watch our money. The big stores are few and far between. My Sunbeam mixer and I are great friends and Amazon thanks for affordable pricing and fast shipping.
