cozy and warm - the perfect throw,
This review is from: Sunbeam Camelot Microplush Heated Throw, Breast Cancer Awareness Pink (Kitchen)
This is the first electric blanket I have ever owned, so I can't compare this product to others of its type (except to note that so many other electric blankets look old, threadbare, and UGLY - not this one), but I am very happy with it. Another reviewer pointed out that you can feel the heating wires through the blanket - yes, technically you can, but they are not sharp or bothersome at all, and don't in any way prevent the blanket from being soft, cozy, comfortable, and flexible. It doesn't get really hot, but it does get warm enough to heat you up nicely as you relax on the couch, and it works especially well on your bed, with another (larger) blanket on top. The only thing I would change is to either make the cord from the bottom of the blanket to the remote longer, or else have it attach to the side of the blanket, not the bottom. I say this because if you have the bottom of the blanket at your feet where it should be, the remote barely stretches up to where you can comfortably reach it. This isn't a big problem when sitting on the couch but is a bit incovenient when you're lying down in bed. Overall, I think this blanket works great and gives you your money's worth for sure.

Great winter warmer,
By kingfather (Lake Gaston,NC) - See all my reviews

My wife always suffers when the temperature dips below 50. She especially hates to have cold feet, which in turn makes her feel cold all over. I read the first review on this product, and decided this electric throw would solve her freezing all winter. I ordered from Amazon on Wednesday, and Saturday afternoon, my wife curled-up in cozy comfort to watch TV, or read her book. The cord is long enough, so that she can move around on our sofa, the temperature control lets her be as warm as she wants from top to bottom. I recommend this to anyone looking to add personal warmth to themselves, or their spouse all winter long!

Best throw I ever purchased!!,

I first purchased one and then another of these throws because they are the best I have ever owned. They are a lovely color. They launder beautifully and become even softer with wear. Most importantly, they do not pill and shed like the acrylic throws. They are sensuous luxuries that I treat myself with when I need extra warmth and comfort. I highly recommend these throws.

Wow - what a disappointment! I have been relying on (and writing) reviews here for 10 years, and while I know that consensus is rare, I can usually get a good feel for a product by reading a wide sample of reviews. For whatever reason (shills?) - not so in this case. This is the worst electric blanket I have ever used.
COMFORT: While the microplush covering is sort of soft, it does not make up for the huge and stiff wires throughout the blanket (a la old-style 1960s electric blankets!). The whole thing is so stiff as to be unpliable and uncomfortable to try to wrap around yourself. There is no snuggling or cuddling into this thing at all. It also has a paper 'label' that is attached to the surface (not the edge) of the blanket and does not come off. Try having that rub on your skin - awful. If you're looking for an electric blanket to lie flat on top of your bed - it could work, sandwiched between 2 nice blankets so you never have to touch it. But you don't want it touching your skin and you don't wan to try to wrap it around you. PLUG PLACEMENT: Truly awful. It's like they tried to find the most inconvenient plug placement imaginable. First - the cord from the blanket to the wall: it's on the bottom (foot) of the blanket and only a few feet long. If you're trying to use this on your couch, it really only works if you have an outlet right at your feet. If the outlet is behind you, say behind or next to your couch back, where most people's are, then you have to use this thing with the bottom edge (with huge plug and scratchy label) up at your chin!!! Beyond awkward, uncomfortable, and unpleasant! What were they thinking? Even if you use it in bed, you need to have an outlet at the foot of your bed. If the outlet is anywhere near the head of your bed, you again need to flip the blanket around and have the huge plug mechanism up near your face. So stupid. CONTROLS: The control button is easy to use. That's the best thing I can say about this. But it's unnecessarily HUGE, and it's attached to the aforementioned awkwardly placed main plug! It's about 2' down the main cord from the bottom of the blanket; very hard to reach unless - again! - you have flipped the whole thing and have the bottom edge / mass of wires & plugs up near your face. If you do have an outlet near your feet and you can have the plug and wires down by your feet - then you are not reaching the control button without sitting up and leaning over. It's idiotic. Who designed this? WARMTH: It does warm up quickly and has 3 heat setting, so I grudgingly gave it 2 stars instead of 1. BOTTOM LINE: Stiff, not at all cuddly, really awkward to use, and uncomfortable - you'll be fighting the cord/plug placement unless you use it flat on a bed, with an outlet at your feet and no desire to use the control button. Not worth it.

It's good, but...,

I use my throw as a bed warmer. About 1 hr before going retiring, I turn it on to warm the sheets. It's just the right size for the queen size bed. It is truly warm enough for me and I live in Alaska. The auto shut off feature is what drew me to it in the first place. Bravo for the fact that money for breast cancer research is donated by the company for purchasing this product.
The one thing that keeps me from giving this product an excellent review is the design flaw of the cord. It is in an akward place, right in the middle of the throw. Putting it off to one side would have been much better. Also the module that the control cord connects to is SO large and bulky.

Soft, Cozy and Warm - Perfect!,

This review is from: Sunbeam Camelot Microplush Heated Throw, Breast Cancer Awareness Pink (Kitchen)
I just purchased this throw. I was a little worried about some of the previous reviews (not big enough, feel the wires) not the case for me! I think it's the perfect size for a cuddle session on the couch(I'm 5'9"), and sure you can feel around for the wires (ps- it's a heating blanket) but not a bother in the slightest. I keep it on Med cause it's pretty toasty(I live by the beach). SUPER soft! WAAAY better than the old kind. I say - Get it! You'll love it! Especially since it supports Breast Cancer. I did the 3day walk and let me tell you showing your pink spirt means a lot!

This was the best Christmas present (to myself) ever!
I had always hated electric blankets--they tend to be stratchy, stiff and always seem to smell funny. This throw was none of those things-soft and light weight this baby will heat you up quick and its just the right size to snuggle in. Since I am married to a polar bear who doesn't want to be too warm at night and keeps the thermostat at comfortable 59 degrees, the micro plush heated throw replaced my blanket on the bed. The extra added bonus is this item promotes Breast Cancer Awareness--WIN WIN! The only draw back is the complex washing instructions.

I bought this blanket for myself, although I rarely get to use it because everyone else in my house also loves it and grabs it before I get a chance to use it. I figured if I ordered a pink blanket that the boys would hopefully not touch it, but it is such a wonderful blanket that even the boys love it.
The quality is wonderful. It gets nice and hot on the high setting, but you can also set it on low or medium heat. I think I may have to order another one...maybe even two. Buy this blanket, you will not be disappointed.

Great Throw,

This is a great throw. The color is a pretty soft pink. What I love most about this throw, is that, one could throw it on the couch, without people realizing that it is an electric blanket. It looks just like a normal blanket. It is not hard and ugly like my older electric blanket.
As for the heat setting, well let's just say I'm always cold. Yes, I live in California, but I am still always cold. With this throw, there is a low/medium/and high setting. The high setting is too hot for me. I usually leave it on low, and in the winter some nights I'll go to medium. I know at least one other reviewer said that they could barely feel the heat. The only thing I can say to that, is that they must have gotten a defective blanket, because this things gets plenty hot enough. My two biggest gripes about this product are that 1) like others have said, it is way too easy to accidentally bump the control, and have it change the heat setting. All it takes is for one's leg to barely touch the control, and it will change. Sometimes I would put it on low, then suddenly find that it is now on medium or high cause I accidentally touched it. They should not have made the control so sensitive. And 2) again, like others have commented, the cord is put in a bad place. They only have one place to plug in the electrical cord into the blanket and it is in the middle of the bottom of the blanket. They should have attached it to the side of the blanket, so that it wasn't constantly getting in the way of people's feet. I am always moving it around because it is constantly hitting my feet. And also, they should have made the cord longer. Overall, I would recommend the throw, though they could have made it better. UPDATE: ABOUT A YEAR AFTER I BOUGHT THIS THROW AND ORIGINALLY GAVE IT 4 STARS, THE THROW STOPPED HEATING; THE CONTROL JUST KEPT BLINKING LIKE IT DOES WHEN IT IS PLUGGED INTO THE WALL BUT GETS UNPLUGGED FROM THE BLANKET. EXCEPT THAT IT IS PLUGGED INTO THE BLANKET AND IT STILL BLINKS. I'VE TRIED EVERYTHING, UNPLUGGING IT FROM THE WALL, THEN PLUGGING IT BACK IT, MAKING SURE THE CONNECTION WAS SECURE WITH MY BLANKET; ALL FRUITLESS ATTEMPTS. I AM UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE IT IS A 2 YEAR WARRANTY, BUT DO I REALLY WANT TO SPEND ALL THE MONEY SHIPPING IT BACK, TO JUST GET ANOTHER THROW THAT IS LIKELY TO HAVE A SIMILIAR PROBLEM. I CALLED CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND YOU COULD TELL THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MANY OTHER PEOPLE. DON'T BUY THIS BLANKET! IT WAS GOOD FOR A YEAR, BUT SOONER OR LATER IT WILL STOP WORKING AND YOU'LL JUST HAVE A THROW WITH CORDS IN IT THAT DOESN'T HEAT.

Sunbeam SlumberRest Camelot Microplush Heated Throw, Breast Cancer Awareness Pink My daughter received this product and loves it. She let me try it out and I decided, on the spot, I was going
to purchase one for me. I bought the pink Susan B. Komen in pink and I just LOVE it. It keeps me nice and warm and is so soft. I highly recommend this blanket. It comes with a two year guarantee (which needs to be mailed in) so if it turns out you have a problem (which I DO NOT) notify them. |
