Great steam,

This review is from: Sunbeam Convertible Iron Plus Steamer, GCSBRS-102 (Kitchen)
I'm always looking for a better iron and a better handheld steamer. I like a lot of steam & don't do flimsy, small irons. This one is my most expensive one bought to date, but it was worth the money to me. The detachable handheld steamer is really cool. It's got a lot of power steam and is so light in your hands. When I iron pants, I don't create creases in the front; I iron them flat. That sometimes leaves a crease on the inside and outside seams of the pants not aligned with the seam. That drives me bonkers. So when I'm done ironing pants, I usually have to steam out the creases that developed along the sides; that takes a lot of manuevering with a regular iron. With this, I iron the pants, then detach the little steamer and run it along the sides and it eliminates the unwanted creases. I love it; it's exactly what I wanted. It's pretty sturdy; it's a larger iron so it's got some weight to it, I only mention that for those people used to the smaller lighter irons... like my mom. She says all my irons are too heavy. LOL

This is one of those products you look at and think, why didn't someone invent this before?
The Sunbeam iron is a nice, substantial steam iron, works fine like a million other irons. But let's say you're ironing and you accidentally iron in a wrinkle, and no matter how many times you hit the "steam burst" button, you still can't get that wrinkle out. It takes a second to release the steamer from the soleplate. All you do is lift the fabric up and blast it with a burst of steam, and the wrinkle falls out! But you also aren't reironing the same parts of the fabric, and possibly screwing up what you already did. (And the steamer clicks right back into the soleplate, so you can keep on ironing without losing any time at all.) The steamer is a constant steam, and it has a nice, big tank so you aren't constantly refilling. I've used it to steam hanging drapes, and it worked perfectly. It's actually a better steamer than a popular hand held steamer I own. Yeah, it's a little spendy for an iron, but it works exactly as it says, and you're also saving money by not having to buy a steamer. More importantly, you're not just buying a crummy steamer, but a GOOD steamer - and a GOOD iron - and neither is cheap by themselves! I totally recommend the Sunbeam Convertible Iron. I love this thing!

I just purchased my iron this past weekend and love using it. Like the other reviewer I like lots of steam and this gives it. I found mine in Target for $39.99 and was quite surprised at the price, I expected it to be higher but I am pleased with the performance so far.

Worst Iron ever!!!,
This review is from: Sunbeam Convertible Iron Plus Steamer, GCSBRS-102 (Kitchen)
If I could give this NO star's I would!!!
This is the worst iron I have ever used and with a family of five I use an iron a lot!! Does not steam (as an iron) very well at all you have to refill it every 10 minutes and then it is all or nothing! I bought it at Target for 39.99 but took it back and got my money back!! I will never buy a Sunbeam product again. Hope people read these reviews before buying it I wish i had! Just to point out I have never written a bad review before but felt compelled to do so on this occasion.

The "Sunbeam Convertible Iron Plus Steamer" does not perform as advertised. The steam feature spits our more water than steam, and as an iron, it's very heavy and can become cumbersome if you plan to iron more than several items.

I have been searching for an iron that doesn't spit out water during ironing and I've found it. The iron is heavy but does the job. It also uses a lot of water. The steamer feature is great and I would recommend this iron.

WORST iron ever,
By

I am beyond frustrated with this iron - it's heavy, it doesn't get hot enough to iron cotton shirts, and I can't get it to steam while ironing. It works exclusively as one or the other - it doesn't steam at all when I switch on the steam half-way, and when I switch on the steam all the way, it sputters and spits. As a steamer, it's useless on wrinkles. Cheap no-name irons in motels work better than this thing.

Disappointed,

I have had this iron only about a year. I was so excited to get it and now I'm sorry I did. At first it would go super hot and I had to be careful to keep the heat low so I wouldn't scorch things. Now it leaks water everywhere even after it's been cleaned. Only distilled water was used. Now it will only heat if there is water in it, and then the water pours out of the plate all over my clothes. The steamer portion still works, but using it as a regular iron is impossible. I am a seamstress so this isn't something I can use anymore.

Ineffective Steamer/Iron,
By
This review is from: Sunbeam Convertible Iron Plus Steamer, GCSBRS-102 (Kitchen)
I purchased a Sunbeam Convertible Iron some time in April of 2011. I iron almost daily, and was happy to find an iron that could be used as a steamer as well. While it worked and steamed okay initially, I have noticed lately that after just six months of use, it barely steams at all in either iron or steamer mode. Additionally, I just read online today after looking to obtain relative to the problem I am experiencing that approximately 5,700 of these irons have been recalled due to a hazardous wiring component. I am not sure if I have indeed purchased one of the bad ones, but whether or not I have, I will be replacing this iron!

Disappointed but gave it a chance...,

I bought this iron after purchasing 2 other irons within a month looking for that perfect iron. I paid $69 for this one and was thinking this would be worth it. Well it was kind of, the steam was great however the iron sounds like a motor and is very loud, plus it leaked mind you I only had the iron a week so I returned it and got a $25 iron yet again and I'll just hope I'll get a true NO DRIP iron somewhere in the near future.
