5.0 out of 5 stars Good buy!
I really like this heating pad! It is everything I wanted for the price and I am very satisfied. I think it gets hot enough and has really helped my back. I like how soft and flexible it is, and the velcro strap helps hold it nice and tight against your back for the best heat. 3.0 out of 5 stars A heating pad that ain't too hot.
This pad is comfortable and the velcro straps are very helpful for using it around different body parts. But it just doesn't get hot enough and the gray plug/switch is very clunky.

I really like this heating pad! It is everything I wanted for the price and I am very satisfied. I think it gets hot enough and has really helped my back. I like how soft and flexible it is, and the velcro strap helps hold it nice and tight against your back for the best heat. I don't have many problems with my neck although I did use it there one time. It is harder to get around your neck because of the size, but it still felt good the way I had it. Some people complain about the 2 hour shut off, which I don't understand. My husband is forgetfull and doesn't turn them off, which is a fire hazard. I like that it turns itself off, and even if I am still using it, it is not a big deal to turn it back on and it heats up very quickly. We may buy another one as we fight over this one at night!!

1.0 out of 5 stars Fire hazard, December 2, 2007
This review is from: Sunbeam Flexible Heating Pad with 5 Heat Settings and 2 Hour Auto-Off, Blue (Health and Beauty)
I really liked this heating pad until one day I smelled a scortching smell. Eventhough it has an auto shut off this got hot enough to melt its own internal heating wires. After we unplugged the device we cut it open just to see what happened and sure enough all of the wires we melting and there was a big black scortch mark. I read on line that certian versions of this heating pad are on recall.

I was really bummed because it was good for maintaining the heat right where you wanted it with the straps. I also liked the heat control it was nicer than most and I liked the different heat setting options.
TOO BAD.

1.0 out of 5 stars Baby, it's cold on there, November 27, 2007
This review is from: Sunbeam Flexible Heating Pad with 5 Heat Settings and 2 Hour Auto-Off, Blue (Health and Beauty)
After using this thing for more than an hour, I still couldn't tell if my body was warming the heating pad or if the heating pad was warming my body. I tossed it under the bed in disgust and haven't used it since. It's got the fancy-smancy controls and velcro and looks pretty and shiny, but it's a major disappointment.

Remembering Mom's old heating pad, I went online and bought a USED heating pad - that dates back to the 1960s. When it arrived, I was pleased as punch. Fire that thing up and put it on LOW and the radiating warmth sends you to a state of raptured bliss. Set it on high and you'll be able to drop a couple eggs on it and fry 'em up real nice.

But this Sunbeam Heating Pad (featured here) is a waste of money. I was profoundly disappointed in its performance. On its highest heat setting, the warmth really is barely discernible. If you're in pain, you don't have time to waste on this.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really good heating pad!, November 4, 2007

I have used pretty much every brand of heating pad out there and I have to say that I think this is the best one yet. I did not find any problems with it heating up as previous reviewers did. It got very hot and stayed that way. It does auto shut off after a time but all the newer heating pads have this safety feature now. A little on the expensive side but I like that I can wrap it around my knee or back and use the velcro to keep it in place. I am going to buy a second one to keep in my recliner.

5.0 out of 5 stars Flexible Heating Pad, July 14, 2007
This review is from: Sunbeam Flexible Heating Pad with 5 Heat Settings and 2 Hour Auto-Off, Blue (Health and Beauty)
I really like the fact that this heating pad is flexible and can be wrapped around and fastened with velcro. It stays in place nicely. The only problem I have had is that I like to use it at night and it goes off after 2 hours. I realize this is a nice feature for safety reasons, but sometimes I wish it would stay on longer.

1.0 out of 5 stars Stopping working after 1 month, August 16, 2009
This review is from: Sunbeam Flexible Heating Pad with 5 Heat Settings and 2 Hour Auto-Off, Blue (Health and Beauty)
I've never had a heating pad be a dud like this, but this unit started to malfunction in less than 1 month. It gave an error code, which at first I could reset by unplugging it. It was a pain to have to unplug it to reset it, instead of just pressing the on/off button. After a while it just showed the error, and I gave up on the darn thing.

It's otherwise a nice design & perfect for my needs - I strapped it to the back of my chair in my office to keep my back from cramping up while typing. Most heating pads without straps will start to roll into a bundle unless you are lying right on top of them. But I dont want to waste my money again trying another of these, given the extremely short life.

Being pregnant with round ligament and back pain, this has been my savior to combat the aches and pains. I have no idea which heating pad the reviewers used who said it didn't get hot enough! I used this on high on my back (through clothing, not bare skin) and it was so uncomfortably hot I had to turn it down. Yes, the heat adjustor is large and clunky, but what are you doing when you're using this that it matters? A little on the pricey side, but well worth the money.

A friend introduced me to this heating pad, and its flexibility has been useful for some neck and shoulder aches I've experienced. As another reviewer mentioned, the cord attachment can be a bit awkward to position, but it hasn't been that much of an issue for me.

In the past few days, I've noticed the light next to the "high" setting flashing, while no heat is being generated. None of the buttons - neither the Off/On buttons nor the heat up/down buttons - will get rid of the flashing. Unplugging the heating pad for a few seconds and replugging it worked/seemed to reset it a few times, but now when I try the unplug/replug thing, once I plug it back in and hit the On button, the light next to "low" comes on for a moment, then the "high" light starts flashing again.

I found the instruction manual online and reviewed it, but it doesn't mention this behavior. But another review that I read here indicates that this has happened to at least one other person and seems to signal the death of the heating pad.

I checked my order info, and I see that I bought this one year ago today from Amazon; I would estimate that I've used it about 20 times, mostly on the low setting. For $45, I would expect it to last longer than 20 uses on low. I won't be replacing it with the same model, given the other experiences that I've read here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hey, it works!, October 15, 2008
This review is from: Sunbeam Flexible Heating Pad with 5 Heat Settings and 2 Hour Auto-Off, Blue (Health and Beauty)
This heating pad lives up to the company's propaganda. It wraps around harder to cover shoulder areas and stays put, thanks to the elastic band. The five levels of heat are great and the automatic shut off is great when you fall asleep with the pad on.
