Works Well When Cleaned Properly,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sunbeam Health at Home 1.2 Gallon Steam Vaporizer, White/Burgundy (Health and Beauty)
Our family has purchased several Sunbeam Vaporizers over the years and have had good luck with these units. The Larger-tank unit is a better deal as it holds more water. The unit produces steam which is why we buy them--steam helps to warm the air as it adds moisture and also kills any organisms in the water. More expensive cool-mist humidifiers do NOT kill bacteria and fungus and their cool mist cools the room temperature. This unit requires regular cleaning to keep it working well--our water has much calcium so we clean the electrodes after every 2 or 3 uses. Simply scrape the scale from the electrodes and put the unit back in service. As the electrodes wear down, a replacement head unit for the device can be purchased direct from the manufacturer--no need to keep buying the water tank.

Not worth it, even if it's cheap.,

You know what they say: You buy cheap, you get cheap. or worse, you get a shoddy humidifier. I bought one of these last winter and it stopped producing steam after 2 months. Even when it did work, it was barely noticable in my 10'x11' bedroom...and that is NOT a big space to humidify. Plus, there's no timer or safety switch-off for when/if the water runs out. Luckily I only used mine at night and turned it off in the morning (it lasted just under 8 hours on a full tank), but I could see how it could cause potential problems if left unattended longer. This time I'll invest a few more bucks and get something that actually works, and works safely.

STAY AWAY,

We bought this for the baby's room and it almost started an electrical fire. Thank goodness our electric tripped off, it probably saved our home. This thing does NOT automatically shut off, it overheats, and threatens your family. If something had happened to our baby, I don't even know what I'd do. STAY AWAY from this fire hazard...

although it says that it is a cool mist humidifier it is actually a warm mist humidifier but it seems to do its job quite alright.but im not sure it would last very long and would not recommend to anyone.

It did the job,

We've had this unit for 3 years. It has never leaked or broke or started an electrical fire. We've been pretty happy with it. We have a large home so this was used for one of the smaller rooms. We have several different humidifiers throughout the house and it has worked well.

This is not bad for a cheap humidifier. However:- Lots of water on/around the tank after a couple of hours (have to put it on a mat or a pile of towels) All in all, I was happy (got it for twelve bucks last year). The boiling kills a lot of the That said, I am in the market for something that will run longer, be less messy, more durable, and

does the job but hard to clean,

I had this humidifier for about a year, and it recently stopped running. I took it apart and found that the wires had corroded. I practically had to break the thing to get it open, and you can't get the calcium deposits out of the inside except through this microscopic hole, so I ended up banging it against my kitchen sink every few nights to get it out. It does work--it's warm mist, and it's not too loud. It'll last you one or two nights if you turn it off in the morning. If you can't spend a lot of money, go ahead and get this one because it does the job--better than not having one at all.

DON'T BUY IT!!! We bought this for our newborn baby and it's terrible. Yesterday, the vaporizer gave out a strong burning smell and then within 15 minutes or so, the baby room is filled with smoke. It's scary. What if we were not in the baby room and it's on for the whole night?

Not a good product,

I had this for about 2 years, and was not impressed. It worked for a month or so, and since then, does nothing. If you fill it up with water, and then plug it in for several days, the water level never goes down. I've tried cleaning it repeatedly, and tried various things to make it work, but apparently it's just dead. It was a cheap product; you get what you pay for.

Only if you don't open the door...,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sunbeam Health at Home 1.2 Gallon Steam Vaporizer, White/Burgundy (Health and Beauty)
We bought this for our son's room when he had his first cold. It was OK, but is slow to humidify the room -- by morning, the room was fairly moist. However, if you open the door (perhaps to check on the little one) all the moisture escapes and you have to wait a few more hours before the room gets humid again. I am going to buy real humifier...
