Good price/performance,

This review is from: Sunbeam Health at Home Moist/Dry Heating Pad, King Size (Health and Beauty)
Pros: Large, sturdy, heats up quickly, has four temperature settings(warm, low, medium, high), gets plenty hot (medium setting is usually as high as I want to take it), has two-hour auto-shutoff
Cons: Does not have override to two-hour shutoff (I.E, you can't leave in on longer without cycling it off and on), the "moist" option is a flimsy sponge that's smaller than the heating pad Bottom line: This heating pad works fine, has no real day-to-day issues and is reasonably priced. I could nick a half-star each off for the two cons but will not. I don't need the moist heat anyway and, if I ever do, I'll use a damp hand towel. I reckon that, without the mandatory shutoff, somebody would forget to turn the heating pad off, injure themselves and sue the manufacturer. I'd rather limit their liability and keep my price down. Some other reviews have stated that the product didn't get hot enough, took too long to heat, was hard to restart after the auto-shutoff, or that the hand-held control got hot. I've had none of these problems. To restart, turn the switch to the "off" position, count off two seconds ("one-mississippi, two-mississippi") and turn it back on.

This is the best heating pad I've owned, and I've owned many. Large size and fast heating make it perfect for treating my aches and pains--and the price was great as well.

I like the size of the heating pad. It has an automatic shut-off, which I don't like. When I got it, I thought it was defective because when I tried to turn it back on, it wouldn't turn on. I finally figured out that I had to turn it off and on a couple of times before it would work, which is a hassle. The pad inside doesn't crinkle up as much as the smaller sizes, which I like.

Bought this for my husband, who uses a heating pad every night on his back. Good quality, normal width and king in length. Best part is that it stays on for over 2 hours before auto shut off kicks in! We have an other one that shuts off every 20mins---that just isn't practical.

I just got this heating pad for my wife and she loves it. It is really big and has a long cord and the pad warms up really fast. Also one thing i didnt expect was the heating pad was actually somewhat soft, it wasnt just like a sheet up plastic under the cover.

I looked long and hard for a heating pad with a moist heat option and was encouraged with the positive reviews for this item. But the real deal is not so cool. The moist option is a thin sponge that's not nearly as large as the heating pad itself. And guess what? The heating pad cover is not waterproof. So you place the skinny sponge in hot water, slip it in the cover, turn on the heat and end up very damp. Not cool at all.

I bought this product to replace a Kaz heating pad that failed after less than one year of use. The Sunbeam pad is a good large size and appears to be well-constructed. Time will tell. The only gripe I have is that the control unit is a bit awkward to use: The sliding heat control will sometimes stop between settings and you have to visually make sure that it is "locked" on the desired setting. Kind of annoying for a unit that is advertised as being user friendly for persons with arthritic hands.

Good Basic Heating Pad,

I've owned this heating pad for several years now and it still works great! I like that there is the option of a moist heat. The cover is also removable and washable. It heats up quickly, stay nice and hot, and it shuts off automatically after a few hours. The cord is a little stiff, and sometimes gets in the way when you're trying to get it positioned just right. Over all it's everything I want in a heating pad.

Doesn't get hot enough for me. I want enough heat to penetrate into the tight muscles, but this one won't do it. The hottest setting is just warm to me. My wife likes it though. Maybe it's good for skinny people. The 9 ft. long cord is nice.

I love how long this heating pad is. The only draw back I have is the 2 hour cut off. I'd rather is stay on unless I turn it off but it's not that crucial. I only use is as a dry heating pad but if I was to use it as a moist heating pad I don't think it would cut it. To make 'moist heat' there is a rectangular foam piece between the heating pad and the cover. If you wet the foam it stands to reason the cover would also be wet... which wouldn't be so comfortable in my opinion.
