4.0 out of 5 stars Awesome!
This is a great mixer! Lots of power and doesn't seem like it will burn out fast (a common problem I've had with hand mixers). Only thing I don't like is that the low speed is still pretty high. Overall I love it. Stylish and works great! And it was delivered very quickly!

This is a very attractive mixer but I have found it to be very impractical and am looking to replace it. It does not have a true slow speed - it flings batter around so much at the lowest speed that my dog immediately comes running when I use it, licking his chops. The beaters are annoyingly difficult to eject, and the unit is heavier and more cumbersome than other mixers I have had. I find myself yearning for the old "vintage" turquoise GE hand mixer with a variable speed wheel on top. In fact, I may just get one from an antique dealer. I am frustrated to death with this thing.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice unit, December 27, 2008

I bought this primarily because of its color. I like its stand that gives it a stable place to sit. The photos make it look cordless, but it is not which suits me fine. It has worked well the few times I have used it. The beaters have really deep anchors and do not eject easily. Actually, they are a pain to eject. However, that is fairly minor since I generally only do that once per use. Maybe they will get easier over time. The speed control feels a bit pointed to eject the beaters and it hurts my thumb to press it so hard. It has worked like a champ in beating cakes and cookie batter for me. The ejection problem would not cause me to not purchase it again, but it did rank it down one star.

5.0 out of 5 stars great product, March 8, 2007
This was a gift for my mother and she loved it. She especially liked the stand the mixer sits in. And boy does it have power. GREAT!!

2.0 out of 5 stars Works but Bad Design, December 19, 2009
By
This mixer works - I've had it about 2 years now.
Negatives: The difference between the lowest and highest speeds is very narrow - sometimes I need a much slower speed to start. The biggest negative is the beater ejection. Horrible! Very difficult and it still hasn't gotten any easier over the two + years I've used it - very bad design. Another thing is that the beaters have started to rust - I do put them in the dishwasher.
Positives: The motor has held up fine, the cord is a nice length and the unit wipes clean easily after use.
Would not buy again.

This Sunbeam mixer is one of the best hand mixers I have used in my 55 years in the kitchen.
(I started cooking when I was almost 14.)
It's comfortable to hold and easy to set down on the back side of the mixer. It's nice to look
at and it's a workhorse when you need it with 6 speeds and a 250 watt motor..when you need that
extra "Boost of power", trust me...it's there!
It's worth FIVE STARS in my opinion but I wanted to give it four and a half stars beccause I think
the base that it stores in could be just a little better than it is. In theory you're supposed to be
able to wrap the cord inside the bottom of the base but in reality it's not quite as easy to do as it
should be. That doesn't take away from the terrific performance of this Sunbeam 2560 Heritage Mixer.
I'm thrilled with it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Just one complaint, September 6, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I really like this mixer. It's attractive, compact and takes up little room on my counter, powerful, and seems like it will be long lasting. However, the beaters are rather difficult to eject. I'm used to a seperate eject button and having the beaters pop out, however with this one, you have to pull them out. I don't use a mixer all that often tho, so I can live with it since I like the other features.

5.0 out of 5 stars No stir speed, and flings stuff out of the bowl?, August 8, 2011
I didn't purchase this exact mixer. I purchased The Heritage model 2551, actually it is the exact same mixer, it just comes with a stainless mixing/storage bowl.

Mine hasn't even arrived as yet. So, all I can go by are the reviews everyone here as left. It seems everyone is pleased with the overall style, power, and ease of use.

However, there are two issues that do concern me. The first being, a problem with the beater ejection button. In calling Sunbeam directly, the CSR told me that the ejector button is to be pulled back with your thumb, then push the ejector down So you may want to try that and see if your beaters release & eject a little easier.

Second issue, No stir speed? I don't bout other people, but I don't need an electric mixer to stir something in a bowl. I can do that myself by hand.

And last but not least. The Heritage model 2551 description states it has a brushed stainless finish. So, I asked the CSR at Sunbeam if the brushed stainless finish is die cast metal or a plastic body with a silver stainless brushed look.

The body of the mixer is in fact plastic, with the look of silver brushed stainless steel. No big deal, since so many small appliances are made of plastic these days. But reading Sunbeams description, does lead one to believe the body is die cast metal as opposed to just plastic. Its just an FYI fact I wanted to share with every one.

Can't wait for my mixer to arrive. As I'm curious to see just what it can do, and perhaps what I'm not expecting it to do. i.e. In so far as its ability to fling the contents out of the mixing bowl.

I'll update this review after I've had a chance to use the mixer a few times.

Update: 8/11/11

Don't let its smaller size fool you. This is one powerful hand held mixer with plenty of torque power to mix heavy bread dough with NO bogging down.

I had no issues with getting the beaters to release and eject. Nor any issues with flinging or spattering out of the bowl. Perhaps those having flinging and spattering issues is due to having the mixer powered on and the beaters rotating while either lowering or removing the beaters from your work bowl?

With the mixer turned off prior to lowering the beaters into or removing the beaters from your work bowl will most likely avoid any flinging or spattering.

Just a suggestion.

The two things in the world I love...appliances and tools! You figure it out. I couldn't have imagined how any appliance can compare to Kitchenaid, but this one is in the same category. Don't hesitate thinking it's hype. This machine is really strong and it's RED!
