We have had the pleasure of owning and daily using our Oskar food processor for 20 years! We use it for chopping and mixing every day. It will chop vegetables, grind meat, etc. in a couple quick twists of the lid. What I like most is that it is a medium size and extremely easy to clean. The bowl and lid come off easily to clean quickly! After 20 years of daily use, we have only had to super glue the top of the bowl back on a couple of times. It has finally come time to buy another Oskar. We will never buy another type of food processor. We love our Oskar. He is like part of our family!

This was my first food processor and when it bit the dust after about 15 years of almost daily use (salad dressings, herbs,m garlic, etc.), I moved up to a higher level and more expensive food processor, plus a mini one of the same brand. The minis didn't prove as versatile as Oskar, had much shorter short lives, and weren't that mini. So I've returned to my first love-- Oskar.

I bought mine at a thrift store I paid about $5 for it. Although it didn't come with the processor part and cheese grater. I use it for making my famous salsa and guacamole. I love it and would be sad if it ever died. I hate cleaning kitchen gagets. this one is cake to clean.

I have used my Oskar almost daily since 1992 and it finally bit the dust. I bought a Cuisinart Mini-Prep Processor and it's going back to the store. It's garbage compared to my old Oskar. The bowl of the Cuisinart is flimsy and it doesn't chop well at all. I just ordered another Oskar! The motor is powerful and it chops anything.

I have used mine since the 80's. Whenever I need to make salsa, it grinds the the garlic perfectly and the Jalapenos also. Making guacamole is also a dream with Oskar. For making marinade using garlic and Jalapenos it is also perfect. Using a large food processor does not make sense for salsa and guacamole, you would not get the same perfectly small granular sized bits of garlic and chiles you want to spread out that taste. Making Chocolate chip cookies I need this to grind those walnuts to whatever sized chucks I prefer. Oskar is the ONLY food processor I use. Another use is grinding (you don't want big chunks ? yuck!) those gizzards and giblets for making real Thanksgiving dressing. One other thing, I bought one for my brother because he borrowed mine so often, at the local swap meet for $7. It was his favorite birthday gift, even though it was used and yellowed from age.

I've had my Oskar for 25+ years. It takes a knockin and keeps on rockin'. The most useful kitchen appliance I have ever used. Cleanup is a breeze and small footprint for storage. Blade is still sharp after all these years of significant usage. Larger families may want a larger processor but for 2-3 people this one's a no-brainer.

Does anyone know of a full-sized F. P. that has the power of the Oscar? The old Cuisinarts were good but I've read bad reviews for the new ones.

I got this little guy in about 1985 and luckily for me I never got rid of it. I'm missing the shredder blade and all that extra jazz but if you want a really powerful little processor, this is the baby to get! It's got a motor on it that could probably run your car, LOL!

It IS small and it only has one speed. I think it hold maybe 2 cups.

I have a similiarly-sized Cuisinart and it just does NOT have the juice the Oscar does! Chopping nuts, hard stuff, it is THE BEST! Makes hummos in less than a minute. What a great product! I'm glad I found it amongst my stuff. I'd forgotten about it and found it. Hadn't used it in maybe 10 years. Cleaned the bowl, blade, plugged it in and it ran like a top!

Thank heavens with all the weird moves and changes in my life, I didn't donate my Oscar! It'll be a sad day when he goes to Small Appliance Heaven!

Bottom Line: If you can find one of these and the motor is smooth, has the bowl, blade and lid --- snatch it up. It'll be one of your Garage Sale Golden moments! The one that's list here 9as of Jan. 23, 2010) is a really good price, actually.

I received one of these as a gift at work. I loved it! It held up for 15+ years. This year I broke it, somehow the top cheese grater is locked into place and it won't come off, the motor still goes strong! I got online to find a replacement and I have discovered they no longer make these. Yes the cheese does shoot out, but it is not too difficult to hug the bowl to it while grating the cheese so the cheese will go in the bowl, but it would have been nice if they had made a bowl attachment to fit it. The bowl for chopping could have been a little bit larger. We used it to make salsa a lot, in fact that is pretty much all I used it for. I noticed someone still has a few of these in stock and the price is high. Even though I loved this product and will miss it, I replaced mine with an Oster food chopper. The bowl is a better size. It doesn't do as well a job, I have to stop and stir the bits around to get them chopped. But it has small blender disk which is good for cream and pudding. Now I just need to find something to shred my cheese as well as the Oskar did. What amazes me is how these old products like this hold up forever, the motors don't burn out, and the cutters and blades stay sharp. I just wish the new products to last.
