5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Compromise, January 4, 2010
By
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
My girlfriend is ALWAYS cold. 162% of the time.
It must be poor circulation or something. On the other hand, I am a normal warm-blooded mammal. So we have some epic (albeit mostly silent) battles over where the thermostat should be, especially in the winter.
I do not like to turn the heat on in the house during the winter months. I just suck it up because it's not worth the increase in utility costs to me. But, I had to decide what was stronger - my grip on my wallet or my desire to see my girlfriend not turn blue and slip into a hypothermic coma.
This blanket is the PERFECT compromise. She sleeps right next to me, toasty and warm with just the 3/10 setting during the night. And she brings it downstairs during the day to keep near her when she's on the couch. I have to admit...I've started sneaking my leg under this thing at night. It's just a nice, soft, comforting, warm blanket.
The auto-off feature is really nice too, just in case you forget to switch it off. I can't imagine ever needing the settings above 5 or 6. She tried 7 the first night, thinking it probably would just barely keep her warm, and she woke up sweating 2 hours later. But even then she commented on how she felt warm to her core, not like some other electric blankets where you feel like a thin sheet of fire is laying on top of you, trying to sear your skin off.
It has gotten unnaturally cold here in the Panhandle area, down into the teens at night, but I can imagine that the higher settings might be useful for places up north that get much colder for much longer.
I would give this thing 6 stars if I could. And of course Amazon shipped it quickly and it was packaged well.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Heated Blanket, December 3, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Blanket works great. Keeps my daughter nice and snug at night. Auto off feature is really nice for the three year old as well as she doesn't remember to turn the blanket off most mornings. Definitely would recommend buying it here if you need the auto off feature, which we did. Much better deal than most stores. Only thing I don't like about the blanket is that there is no satin top finishing strip on it like most electric blankets. Still, it's a minor point. Overall a great buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Plush Blanket Will Save You on Heating Bills in Northern Winters, November 26, 2009
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Heated mattress pads and blankets can really save you on heating bills and lower your carbon footprint because you do not need to heat the whole house, just your bed, at night. For years, I have used Westpoint Stevens Rest Secure Restwarmer Dual Control Heated Mattress Pad, Queen which is satisfactory but not great. I was looking to get one in twin size for my son and then I accidentally came across this red heated blanket and got one for him because he likes red bedding.

Great discovery! This heated blanket feels lot more cozier than heated mattress pad. It is plush, not very heavy, and can get very warm. Even a low setting of 2 really warms you up. You do not feel the heating elements through the blanket. After 10 hours, it shuts off automatically. Wholeheartedly recommended for Northern winters!

...says it all.

In addition, construction seems robust, cords are strong and connection is secure. Blanket is 200 watts for those of you planning power usage and expected heat output...

Finally I'm warm! This blanket works great. Honestly I never have to put it above four, and if I leave it on four or higher I soon get hot. It works precisely as advertised. I can't speak to durability since I've only had it a month or so. But so far I like it.

My electric blanket (25+ years old)finally went to electric blanket heaven while there was still a major cold snap going on.

I found this one and bought it. Finally I'm warm again and the cats love it, too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best electric blanket ever!, March 12, 2010

Excellent Choice! I have tried several electric blankets but this one is the best! I have to get a new one every year because I use mine every night even through the summer. I turn it on 1/2 hour before bed and turn it off as I crawl in. Puts me right to sleep. This one gets nice and toasty down by my feet (my feet are always cold) but not too hot for my upper body. On really cold nights I leave it on low through the night. I used to use sleeping pills every night for many years, but haven't used one since I started using electric blankets. I even have extras of this brand on my guest room beds.

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect!!, October 4, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I first found out about this blanket from staying at my grandmother's house, as she had one. My mom wanted to buy my husband and I one, but wanted one exactly like my grandmother's. I have found this blanket to be absolutely wonderful. It is perfect with the dual controls, as my husband and I differ greatly on the settings. This takes away all of the bickering or trial in trying to find the perfect setting to where we are both happy! I can set my side to be as warm as I want, and he can as well. It is pretty lightweight, so movement isn't restricted, the way it can be with a bulky blanket or comforter. This blanket also has a timer, so it shuts off after ten hours, so there is no worry about leaving it on either. It is the most perfect electric blanket.

5.0 out of 5 stars Much better than I expected, November 18, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I bought this for my wife who always says that she's cold (even in the summer). She practically lives in this blanket. She was skeptical at first but its become just about her favorite gift of mine. It puts out a very respectable amount of heat (I nearly melt just sitting nearby), and is easy to use. My one complaint would be the power-cord which is absurdly long (could be an upside depending on your situation) and is made of a material that twists and tangles extremely easily.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good product, October 5, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I've seen this described as quilted. I would'nt go that far, but is of a heavy weight and seems well made. In New England, to get my feet warm, a blanket needs to go over top to insulate the heat. But, I've always run into that with electric blankets.
