1.0 out of 5 stars only works on moths, September 5, 2008
This review is from: Sunbeam SB983 Cordless & Rech. Decorative Bug Zapper - Barcelona (Lawn & Patio)
We bought the bug zapper for helping get rid of flies, but so far, the only bugs attracted to it and zapped by it appear to be moths. The charge on the batteries doesn't last very long either - only a few hours. The batteries require at least 10 hours to recharge. It is difficult to clean - there isn't a removable tray or anything like that. You have to blow out or shake out the dead moths, some of which are too big to get out easily because of the small spacing in the decorative grill. The only thing good about this item is that it looks nice.

1.0 out of 5 stars Mosquitos are oblivious to it, July 23, 2010

This review is from: Sunbeam SB983 Cordless & Rech. Decorative Bug Zapper - Barcelona (Lawn & Patio)
I live next to a lake in South Florida which means mosquitoes. For some reason they especially love to congregate right outside my front door. I frequently go out with a tennis-racquet shaped hand-held bug zapper and kill in excess of 500 mosquitoes in a single genocidal bug-killing session. Yet this thing is hanging right there next to my front door and it does nothing. I don't merely mean that its performance is disappointing. I mean that hours will go by and it doesn't zap one single mosquito. As a previous reviewer mentioned the occasional moth will go in and get zapped, but I don't care in the slightest about moths. I consider them unfortunate collateral damage. My war is with the mosquitoes.

Completely useless. I should have sent it back as defective for simply not working as advertised.
