4.0 out of 5 stars It fits without having to remove window screen
The biggest advantage of this fan is that it's only 4" thick - which means that I didn't have to remove the window screen. It also fits perfectly in my horizontal-sliding window (with the fan in vertical position), and the edges of the fan fit into the window frame so that it can't be easily pushed out. I bought this fan from Wal-Mart for $45. It worked fine, did what it was supposed to. But when the unit was not being used (not turned on, but plugged in), the controls/lights on the front got very hot. I returned it and got another one. That too had the same issue. So I returned that and bought a Holmes Window Fan w/ Accutemp Plus, HAWF3095-Ufrom Amazon. $45, free...

4.0 out of 5 stars Satisfied Customer, July 15, 2009

I purchased this fan about two weeks ago. It arrived ahead of the estimated arrival time. I ordered it becuase I have a roommate who smokes and often does so in my basement. There is no airflow or circulation. The air was terrible. I purchased the fan to remove the bad air and circulate fresh air. It does that. The fan is quiet. It whirs on the high settings, but no so much as to be annoying. What I really like is that it has dual fans and the direction of each fan can be controlled individually. One thing to keep in mind though. Its not a house fan. Its a small to normal size room fan. Don't think that you'll be able use this fan to circulate air throughout your entire house. Other than that. It a good fan.

Seems like everything I have bought that was made by Sunbeam has problems. I am avoiding them from now on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Fan, October 19, 2009

My room is always a hundred degrees, I sweat in there and I'll go outside of my room and it will be 15 degrees cooler. I put this in my room on just exhaust (because I hate wind in my eyes) and it was almost just as cool as the hallway right outside my room. If I would have done one exhaust and one intake then it would have worked great because the colder air that was seeping under my door would have made up for the difference.

I highly recommend it and you won't be dissapointed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for small and medium size rooms, June 6, 2010

One of my favorite things about this fan is the temperature setting, which will automatically turn the fan off if the room temperature gets below a certain threshold. What's even more convenient is that you can choose between low or high speed, and you can set each fan to run either intake or exhaust. It's not too noisy and is the perfect fan for any small to medium size room.

1.0 out of 5 stars Thermostat does not work!, September 1, 2011
This review is from: Sunbeam SWF4300 Twin Window Fan with Electronic Thermostat (Kitchen)
I bought mine from CVS for 49+ tax. I'm wondering if Sunbeam will pay my electric bill for the summer since the thermostat did not work no matter what setting you had it on or what temperature it was outside at any time of the day. It just runs and runs continuously and yes I experimented with setting it to high/low and settings to 60/65/70/75/80 degrees...nothing, just constantly runs no matter what temperature it is outside day or night.

5.0 out of 5 stars Save your money, don't run your AC, July 14, 2011

This is a great fan and a great money saver as an alternate to running a whole house AC.

This fan is light and portable so you can easily move it around from room to room with you, keeping the room that you're in cool without having to spend excess money cooling the rest of your home. It has intake and exhaust options and can auto turn itself on and off at certain temperatures. You can also just have it run all the time regardless of temperatures, but the auto on/off is a nice energy saving option.

The only downside is that these fans can collect a lot of dust depending on the quality of the air outside your home. Living in So Cal, the quality of air here is poor and my fans can get very dirty. Due to their design, they're very hard to clean. I usually use an air canister meant for cleaning keyboards in order to blast the dust off of the fan. Works for me!

I like the simple design, low profile, and even on high, I hardly know it's running. The sound is more like pleasant white noise. In a 200 or so square foot room with high ceilings, a smoker, and enough computer equipment to generate several extra degrees of heat, using both fans on exhaust and leaving the room door ajar to the rest of the residence creates a very light breeze, so the room's air is being refreshed at a good rate. Definitely light duty but anything more powerful would probably be clunkier, noisier, and more expensive to operate. Great value.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bought two and love them, January 1, 2011

We bought two of these because our local Walmart was sold out - they work well and seem to have no problem with rain. Have no issues with either the way they work or they way the controls work. The thermostat seems fine and they aren't any louder than a regular standing fan, unless something like the curtains get caught against the fan. If these last the 3 years our last two did we'll be very, very happy

Excellent for temperature control and to remove unwanted smells from kitchen. Ability to control individual fan intake or exhaust makes a considerable difference.
