Disappointed,

We bought this blanket for our teenage daughter in Feb 2006. It worked well for the remainder of the winter, but when she turned it on for the first time this year, it didn't work. The control seems to be fine, and we checked all the connections, but the blanket barely produces any heat. We plan to contact Sunbeam's customer service to get a replacement under warranty.
Based on our experience, I would be hesitant to recommend this blanket. UPDATE March 17, 2007 - We contacted Sunbeam customer service and were told to send them the blanket and control. They promised to test it and repair/replace it under warranty. We sent everything to them, and approximately 1 month later it was returned to us. They had replaced the control with a unit that contained the latest firmware. The blanket now works perfectly. Other than taking a little longer than we had expected, I have to say that Sunbeam definitely stood behind their product and satisfied their customer. Therefore, I've increased my rating from 2 to 4 stars. UPDATE February 9 2008 - Stupid blanket!! When my daughter turned it on for the first time this winter, same old problem ... it didn't get warm. Whatever the Sunbeam people fixed or replaced didn't last too long. So, we had to buy her a new blanket for Christmas, and IT ISN'T A SUNBEAM! My rating has dropped back to 1 star.

Don't buy this if you want to be warm . .,

I bought this after my previous electric blanket (which I'd had for a year) had a malfunctioning control. Years ago I had a Sunbeam electric blanket and it was great. This one is practically worthless. I like to turn the blanket on about 15 minutes before bed to get the sheets warm because I'm usually freezing at that time of night--I keep the thermostat pretty low--and can't sleep if I'm cold. As soon as I get comfortable I turn the blanket off because I don't like to sleep with it on all night. This blanket doesn't even get warm: it barely takes the chill out of the sheets and even for that I have to turn it on at least 30-45 minutes ahead of time. If you want to get into a warm bed I would definitely not recommend this blanket.

Will Not Buy Again,

I have had 3 Sunbeam electric blankets in 3 years. They all stop getting warm in just a few months and are only warm in spots. Everyone of them took forever to get warm and before they quit entirely "High" isn`t even warm. They also pill up terribly and make lint. I could live with that if it just worked. I will not buy Sunbeam again and now am shopping for the Soft Heat which gets the highest national ratings and reviews.

Stops working after a year,
This review is from: Sunbeam electric blanket, FULL size. (Kitchen)
I purchased this blanket three years ago. Last year it didn't seem to get very warm. This year it stopped working completely. Totally cold. If you search the web for other sites with reviews of this product, they all tell the same sorry story. I will be trying to get warranty service. BTW, the Northern electric blanket we bought around 1961 still works great. Even survived a couple year tour of duty in college. So much for technological advancement. I will never buy a Sunbeam again. Shoddy product.

Worthless For Electric Warmth,
This review is from: Sunbeam electric blanket, FULL size. (Kitchen)
I've tried this product 3 times, for three different beds, and every single one of them stopped working within a few weeks: they did not heat at all, the connection to the blanket fell out every time you moved and you'd have to reconnect it and replug it and hopelessly hope; and the blanket itself did not suffice. I cannot believe that so many stores only stock this brand of warming blanket! Unbelievable! Go elsewhere to save yourself a major disappointment (and more chilly nights!).

Good for a season...,

I have purchased three Sunbeam Warming blankets over the last four to five years, and one thing is consistent...for the first year, it works like a charm. However, after the first year, the quality and consistency of heat begins to diminish exponentially.
I really never paid attention to the number of blankets I was buying, as I just would buy a new one if it was not heating properly. This year, I noticed that I have three queen sized heating blankets (one on the bed and the other two in bags that I have never gotten around to dropping off at GoodWill). Then it hit me, every 18 months, I am spending $139 for a blanket. Someone has to have a better quality blanket. Next year, the blanket on my bed should begin to go out (as Sunbeam is SO consistant). So I will purchase another brand!

absolute garbage,

I bought this blanket (in King size) from a retail store two weeks ago. If only I had read the reviews on Amazon first, I would have saved myself some serious aggravation and avoided it like the plague.
The first thing that hit me when I put the blanket on the bed was how thin it was and how horribly stiff the wires in the blanket were. That should have been enough right there for me to pack it up and take it back to the store, but I decided to give it a try anyway. Despite the fact that there was a heavy flannel sheet between myself and the blanket, I could still feel the wires. Even my husband, who could sleep on a bed of nails, commented how uncomfortable the wires felt. And the aggravation with the blanket didn't end there. Within three days, the darned thing stopped working in the middle of the night. No heat, no lights on the controls, no nothing. I tried unplugging the blanket and plugging it back into hoping it would "re-boot" but it did no absolutely good. The blanket was deader than a proverbial doornail. Thankfully, I saved the receipt and intend to return it tomorrow. Next time I'll read the Amazon reviews first and save myself a serious spike in my blood pressure...

Disappointing,
This review is from: Sunbeam electric blanket, FULL size. (Kitchen)
We received a Sunbeam electric blanket as a gift and after one year it stopped working, we bought another one and I even bought the electric throw, one year later they both stopped working.
Very disappointed in Sunbeam products after 3 products with the same problem of no longer working after a year, it is definitely a product problem. Do not buy this product!
