5.0 out of 5 stars Go with a higher capacity reel than your hose length.
My advice of the day is that if your hose is 150', a 175' capacity reel is perfect. This way you're not having to perfectly guide your hose on to the reel so you don't run out of space. There is a place at the bottom in the front for you to put your foot to anchor the cart. This keeps it from moving and helps with leverage when you're cranking the handle to roll up...

1.0 out of 5 stars cheap plastic, August 14, 2008
This review is from: Suncast 175-Foot Capacity Hosemobile Garden Hose Reel Cart, Bronze/Taupe JNF175B (Lawn & Patio)
The whole reel is made of cheap and thin plastic. The crank gear is also plastic, and as soon as you put some stress on it (like trying to rewind a 100ft hose laying on the ground) it will start skipping and coming apart. The whole product is made of smaller plastic parts that are snapped together, which can not take the smallest amount of stress without breaking off from one another. By my second heavily assisted rewind the whole assembly started leaking like mad (something else snapped I guess), prompting me to return it.

This seems to be a common theme with all the Suncast products, as this is a third model of their hose reel that I have tried. If you had a bad experience with one, do not assume that their more expensive units are any better made. They're just more expensive, that's all.

I am very happy with the two that I purchased.

1.0 out of 5 stars Suncast 175' Hose Job, September 14, 2009
This review is from: Suncast 175-Foot Capacity Hosemobile Garden Hose Reel Cart, Bronze/Taupe JNF175B (Lawn & Patio)
This is a terrible product. I have used it for a year now. It is flimsy, bends and flexes far too much when it is cranked or moved. I think it is made of flexible vinyl or polyethylene. This is the wrong type of plastic for this application unless it is very thick. The wheels fall off. It bounces when moved because the wheels are either out of round or hang up on the axle. I heavily greased the axel, but that had no effect. I usually give products a good review, but this thing is horrible!

This was a great purchase. Device is quite smooth to operate and was pre-assembled. Unlike other devices that I have had, this unit is "free flowing" and winds-up and unwinds very easily.

This hose reel is misleading. It may hold 175' of thin wall hose, but it has trouble holding 100' of a heavier hose. I was able to buy a different hose reel that holds more hose (it is much larger) from Walmart for less money than I paid for this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Suncast 175 Ft Capacity Hosemobile, November 4, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Suncast 175-Foot Capacity Hosemobile Garden Hose Reel Cart, Bronze/Taupe JNF175B (Lawn & Patio)
This product comes pre-assembled, needing only the connector hose from faucet to cart attached (this is included with the reel). It was a bit tough to get my garden hoses connected to the wheel properly due to how little space is around the connection piece, but once I got it the seal was tight and there were no leaks. I have high water pressure, so my hoses usually have some water coming out of the connection - this amounts to a trickle, when properly attached to spigot. Wheeling the reel for a long distance probably is not intended, so when I tried to do that with a 150 ft. long hose, a wheel popped off while going over uneven terrain in the dark. I am confident it will pop right back on, though I haven't had the time to worry about that. I did buy two of these so that I can place a hose both in the front and back - my second hose is markedly shorter, but still looks great. I love the notches for resting the hose ends when wound up completely, I think it keeps it neat and tidy - especially in storage, when I have the connector hose to worry about as well. It's like Suncast thought of everything. This device cleaned up my patio significantly, considering prior to my purchase, the 150 ft. hose was spread out and somewhat tangled due to lack of storage devices through several seasons. My property is comprised of shades of white/grey/black, but the bronze/taupe does not stand out like a sore thumb either. This product made seasonal cleanup take less than five minutes! I used to spend at least half an hour with emptying the hose of any leftover water/coiling and then hauling it into the garage before the season was over. Now I can wait until the weather turns a bit colder before rushing the hoses inside and covering my spigots and I don't have to worry about whether or not I put them away too early, either - I can just wheel it right back outside if I need to water anything.

I've had two of these. The first lasted less than one year before self-destructing. The second one lasted less than one season before coming apart. Do yourself a favor and stay away from ALL Suncast products.

1.0 out of 5 stars Do not waste your money!, June 3, 2010
This review is from: Suncast 175-Foot Capacity Hosemobile Garden Hose Reel Cart, Bronze/Taupe JNF175B (Lawn & Patio)
POORLY MADE! After one year and moderate use,the plastic part on the side of the cart to which the short hose connects(the one that came with the cart) shoots out of the cart under the pressure of the water and water gushes through the hole.

1.0 out of 5 stars Falls apart quickly, May 11, 2010
This review is from: Suncast 175-Foot Capacity Hosemobile Garden Hose Reel Cart, Bronze/Taupe JNF175B (Lawn & Patio)
I bought two of these (for front and back yard) and both of them are now dead. First one lasted 2 years, second- three years of gentle use. The reason of death in both cases is that the plastic part on the side of the cart to which the short hose connects(the one that came with the cart) shoots out of the cart under the pressure of the water and water gushes through the hole. Replacement of the 2 rubber O-rings on the part did not help.
