I don't have the personality type that can wind and unwind hoses every day. Or even every 2 weeks. Actually, if I had to wind a hose once a year that is almost too much.
Also, most hose reels involve some fighting and tipping over. At least they do when I use them. Harsh words...ultimatums.

This is why I love this device. All I have to do is get the hose mostly straight and it winds up very quickly. It can't fall over because it is always on the ground. At most I have to brace it with my foot as I wind it. I did find it a little hard to assemble and get the hose on. I remember some cursing and a sore wrist. And I am mechanically inclined. There is a chance I was impatient or even forceful with it. However, since the time of its installation, I have been perfectly happy with it.

I have a tiny patio and there isn't space for the hose to lay around. I am in too much of a hurry to use those tiny, curly hoses(the water comes out too slowly).

If you are the patient type, then by all means get a nice-looking pot to put your coiled hose in. If not, get this nifty reel and save yourself time and ag. I'm a 2% nicer person in the garden because of this product.

This is not a heavy-duty hose reel, and I wouldn't recommend it for everyday use or harsh environments. It is made of very lightweight plastic, so you need to put your foot on it when you unreel the hose if you want it to stay put. If you grab the hose and start walking, the reel will want to come with you until the length of connecting hose runs out of room. I wouldn't want to put too much stress on that short length of hose that connects the faucet to the reel -- all of the connections are plastic. Given the price, it works fine for infrequent usage.

UPDATE: It has been several years, and it is still on my patio. The pot and reel have not cracked or anything. However, the plastic hose connector now leaks quite a lot. It doesn't really affect the water pressure in the hose, and the leaking water just runs into the garden. Given its age, I'll just continue to use it until it completely self-destructs.

I love that this doesn't look like a hose reel, but it's poorly designed. We're going to see if we can get our money back. Otherwise we'll just have to chuck it. There's nothing to seal the water connection where it goes into the reel, so more water leaks out of the thing than goes through the hose. It's a piece of junk. Good idea, though. I hope someone else will make a better one.

I was looking for a hose reel/container for my front yard, one that would conceal the hose yet not take up a huge spot in my garden or be an eyesore. This reel pot did both - looks nice, is small, and reels in hose well. I would recommend holding the pot as you reel in as it is lightweight and tends to tip if you are reeling in a large amount of hose.

The idea of this product is great! (Which is why we bought in the first place.)

Pros:
1) It will keep your hose covered and protected from sunlight.
2) It looks nice!

Cons:
1) It is designed poorly. The leader hose attachment on the bottom is designed so the hose does not attach correctly. Rather it puts the hose at an angle making it impossible to get a good connection.
2) The leader house leaks around the connector due to poor quality.

We never ended up getting the product to connect properly and returned it.

This looks very nice, but the short hose that connects to the spigot sprays water really badly. We tried to replace this piece and had a similar result. It sprays out more water than the hose did.

Also, it is VERY difficult to wind the hose onto the reel.

i havent had anything break, but the 50 foot hose only fits if you wind it up JUST SO... and i am terrified it will break winding it back up some day. Also there should be a way to weight this thing at the bottom... it just slides around if you try to pull out the hose... and winding it back up you have to hold it in your lap to keep it from bouncing about uselessly.

Connectors leaks & it's nearly impossible to reel up or unreel the hose w/o putting your weight on it. Need two people if you want it to be easy to use.
