Ok I've has this trash can for a couple of months now. I wanted to live with it before I reviewed it. I have this inside, in the kitchen, because it does look that nice, and I like a big trash can that I don't have to empty every 2 days. I love the overall look, the way the lid holds the bag in place, the way the lid locks if you need it. Now this is what I HATE....when I take the full bag out, it's a struggle, and the bag usually rips because the inside is not smooth, it has ridges made into the resin that catch the full bag and rip it as you pull. If they could make the inside smooth, this would be the absolutely perfect trash can. And I know, you could put less trash in it so the bag wouldn't be so full and push against the inside as you try to take it out.....but that kind of defeats the purpose of having a large trash can, doesn't it? You use a large trash can because you want it to hold a lot of trash so you have to empty it less often and use fewer bags. I do have an idea on how to fix this, and I'll be trying it out probably in the next few days. I'm either going to cut 4 pieces of either cardboard or flat plastic, and tape it to the 4 inside walls to make them smooth. It won't change the capacity, and it should make the shredded bag problem go away. But should I have to do this, or should it just be made that way? With just a little more real world testing, it should have been obvious to the company that it tears the bags when the bag is full. Oh well, nothing is perfect.......UPDATE 5/20/14......I have fixed the inside of the trash can so it no longer rips the bags! Here's what you do. I went to wally world, and got a cardboard box, it's in the packing supply section. The size you need is 14 by 14 by 14, it comes folded flat, it's 68 cents. When you open it, it fits almost perfectly down into the inside of the trash can. You do have to wiggle it a bit, as it's not quite exactly the same size, but it fits great when you get it all the way in. Then just trim the top of the box so it's just inside the lid so it will close, and there you go, the bags just slide right out, no matter how full! You're welcome lol!!

So I had been looking for a larger, nicer looking garbage can for the house. My husband hated the one with the rocking lid and it was too small. Took me about 15 minutes to put together and we are so happy with it, we are going to be buying another one for our finished patio! You will NOT be disappointed if you buy this! Just make sure you don't fill it up too full, it does have a tendency to grab the bag inside and rip it...so be careful, other than that it does hold alot more garbage and I love the locking lid. Perfect for outdoors because you don't have to worry about critters getting into it if you lock it.

Though this is meant for a patio, deck, yard, etc. I purchased it for my kitchen. My dog was constantly in our standard kitchen can - she could just stick her nose under the lid. The kind with a pedal and flip top lid are no good for us either: I was always tipping the can over, etc. Additionally the kitchen size bags fill up very fast with a family of 5.

This fit under my counter nicely (measure though for your own use; my counters are unique!) and the dog can NOT get into it OR topple it over - it is VERY sturdy and very attractive. The lid keeps odors at bay and the dog is pouting, as she has no more "nighttime raids" in her future.

I have been looking for the "perfect" garbage can for my kitchen. I know this can is for outdoors, but I use it in my kitchen and it is great! I do not have ONE negative thing to say about it. It is big enough and the trash is easy to remove. I would recommend this garbage can to anyone. Get one!!! You will not be disappointed!

Yes it's plastic... But does the job. Very easy to put together too. Took about 15 minutes. I bought an entire Corfu set ( 2 chairs/1 sofa, table) including this trash can, and cooler-table. Looks great on my tiny deck ... No it not wicker but can not beat the price and just as comfy.

I love these storage containers. I have purchased 3 sets of them (6) over the past 2 years. I have 2 by our pool - 1 for trash & 1 for cans/bottles. They stay closed nicely so even if the dog finds a way to tip it over he can't get in it and spread garbage. Two others we use to sort recycles (glass, cans, plastics) for our association at our summer condo. The last set I gave to some friends for their man-cave. They love them! They are very attractive, large and well worth the price! I made signs and laminated them for inside the lids to indicate what goes in them. They stay very dry.

This can is perfect until you try to pull the bag out. The lack of a liner is the issue. The bag gets stuck on the inside ribbing. Even if only partially filled, bottles will get caught on the inside. The bag tears and makes a mess. This is my only complaint. It is perfect except for this.

Got this for our outdoor patio by the pool, and it has a larger capacity than I expected. It was a cinch to put together (less than 5-minutes). Large capacity outdoor trash bags fit perfectly and it looks beautiful on our patio. Lots of compliments. Purchased this at a warehouse club for a similar price.

These have turned out to be perfect for my household recycling. Most of the recycling bins I saw online weren't very inconspicuous and the size per price ratio was way more expensive at the time than using one of these. So I sold myself on getting some of these Hideaways for my recycling.

They seemed a bit pricy at first, but I didn't see much price variation between similar items - or even between Amazon and my local home stores. I did purchase two of these at Home Depot during a daily deal sale. The ones from HD didn't have the wicker pattern at the top, but they are virtually the same otherwise. I think the wicker pattern is pretty and adds a bit more to look at than the plain containers I got from HD, but for the price I'd go with the cheapest I could find. The last one I purchased was from Amazon Warehouse (likely a return from someone) to save a few bucks. It was sold as used, but looked new minus a bit of dust.

At first I was a bit worried when I unpacked these, because the material seems to be cheap and flimsy. However, once they are put together, they are pretty freaking solid. I really like the slide lock on the top (see the pictures for lock engaged vs unengaged). I lock the top part of the lid and lay them down when I transport to my recycling center to prevent spillage. If the whole lid locked, I'd love to transport them upright instead, but I'll take what I can get with these.

The assembly is pretty straightforward, but the directions aren't exactly specific and none of the pieces are labeled (not that it is hard to identify them anyway). Start with the bottom, add the sides to the bottom snapping two sides parallel to each other until you have all four sides in, add the top, and you're done. The 'snapping' part of the assembly can be a bit of a challenge, but is completely doable if you have a little bit of strength or weight to leverage. I liked to push one side in and then use my weight to make sure the sides snapped together all the way and rotate the box as I snapped each panel together. The lid was the most trouble to snap on, as one of the pieces always seemed to be off a bit. Even with that little annoyance I had this thing assembled in under 15 minutes.

I don't use any bags inside, so I haven't experienced the bag frustration that many people seem to have. If you plan on using this with bags, I suggest reading some of the reviews (one reviewer was kind enough to post a fix for a ripping issue). I do wish this had a better carrying method as it seems the only way to carry it without the lid popping off is to grab it from front to back, which can be a bit awkward for the height impaired. But, I'm not faulting it since I don't think it was meant to be transported the way I'm using it.

Overall, I am really happy with these Hideaways. They are great for recycling. I'd buy again if I had a need for some more.
