Hideaway Hose Reel,
By A Customer
This review is from: Suncast PHR200 225-Foot-Capacity Garden Hose Reel Hideaway, Taupe (Lawn & Patio)
This product lives up to its billing. The hose is easily dispensed and rolls back up into the box easily. Unlike other hose reels that I have owned, the Hideaway hose does not leak at all even after one year of use. I was so impressed with the first one, I ordered a second one from Amazon.com. It came completly assembled. All you have to do is connect the hose to the faucet. I would have rated this 5 stars except for the following: a) when reeling the hose in you must make sure it is evenly distributed around the hose reel, otherwise the hose can become jammed. b) durability has yet to be confirmed. There have been no problems after 1 year, but will this hideaway last 5 years?

just plain doesn't work,

the design of the valve employs 2 sharp angles which reduce the water pressure to very low, too low to use the hose to clean a patio for example.a shame 'coz the item looks reasonably good.

Good Looking But Not Designed Well,

This review is from: Suncast PHH100D Hose Hideaway with 100-Foot-Capacity Hose Reel (Lawn & Patio)
After seeing Jeannette's negative review, I went to a local store and examined the larger version of the hose storage box. Indeed, the sharp angles of the connection device would diminish the flow of water. The lid kept sliding out of its "hinges" as well because it was loosely assembled. The product information card boasted of the fact that it was totally assembled. I am very disappointed because I liked the idea of storing the hose within an attractive container, and this type even matches our house color. I will not be buying this product.

It's worth the money,

This review is from: Suncast PHR200 225-Foot-Capacity Garden Hose Reel Hideaway, Taupe (Lawn & Patio)
This hose reel is the only one that I've ever used that actually works, and is durable enough to last. The only disadvantage of this type is if it is not secured to something it will tend to move as you pull the hose out, or vise/versa when cranking the hose back in. I still haven't decided on how to anchor mine - but I will. There is plenty of room for 50 feet of hose (maybe more) without having to fool around walking the hose back and forth across the reel as you crank it in.

Hide Away Hose Update from Houston,
By A Customer
This review is from: Suncast PHR200 225-Foot-Capacity Garden Hose Reel Hideaway, Taupe (Lawn & Patio)
I reviewed this product on May 17, 2000 and withheld the 5 star rating wanting to ensure its durability. My 11 year old manage to break the handle off the unit I had owned for a year and one half. Although this was disappointing, I did not believe the product to be defective since nothing is indestructable to my son. I ordered replacement part from Suncast and paid with a credit card since I did save the warranty information. The next day I received a nice email from a customer service rep that informed me that she was crediting my credit card for the parts ordered because she was sure I was covered under the 5 year warranty! With customer service like this and great products like the Hide Away Hose, I give Suncast the highest rating possible.

Weak handle,

This review is from: Suncast PHR200 225-Foot-Capacity Garden Hose Reel Hideaway, Taupe (Lawn & Patio)
I bought a 100' kink free hose for this box and the handle broke after reeling in 20' on the first use. I'm taking it back and looking for something stronger.

Not for people in a hurry,

This review is from: Suncast PHH100D Hose Hideaway with 100-Foot-Capacity Hose Reel (Lawn & Patio)
An OK product overall. Stable when reeling in but is a snug fit for a 100' hose. Need to align your coils as best as you can when reeling in otherwise hose won't fit. I should have bought a 125' reel. No problem with water pressure.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Suncast PHH100D Hose Hideaway with 100-Foot-Capacity Hose Reel (Lawn & Patio)
I have been searching for years for a hose reel that was not an eyesore. This unit is just what I have been looking for. It appears to be sturdily built and best of all, no assembly required! I have excellent water pressure in my home and have experianced no problem with a decrease in water force. However if you have low water pressure, you probably would not be happy with any hose reel. All the ones I have looked at have sharp bends in their internal plumbing. Anyway it is a good product and I plan to order another one for the back yard.

After 15 minutes of wrestling with this reel, I decided to return it. I have 100' of 3/4" hose and this product is too flimsy to handle it - the box moves around when winding (too light) and the hose got stuck over the edge of the reel first time. It might be OK for a very lightweight hose, but after some research I've decided to spend the extra and get a Rapid Reel instead.

Great Invention,

This review is from: Suncast PHH100D Hose Hideaway with 100-Foot-Capacity Hose Reel (Lawn & Patio)
I am very pleased with the hose reel in its attractive hideaway, and it looks beautiful at the front of our house, where one of the faucets is located. The tendency to shift when pulling out the hose can be minimized by placing the toe of one's shoe in the "anchor" space at the right front corner. The reel-in process is smooth, and the lid operates very well. Now I see that the price has been reduced. I wish I could justify purchasing another one, just to take advantage of the reduced price. Just call me "Super Shopper."
