I admit. I judged this book by its cover and thought it wasn't going to amount to much.

I was wrong.

In normal light, this isn't all that pretty. On examination you can see laser-etched plastic film in between two clear plastic pieces, encased by a silver frame (which may also be plastic, now that I think about it.) Okay, not all that pretty.

But when you hang it in a window that gets DIRECT sunlight? Oh wow! You have never seen or owned another suncatcher that can produce the quality and volume of rainbows this product does! Long, full rainbow colors radiating the full 360-degrees around. I had this in my office window and at a certain point in the morning sun, the rainbow streaks would cover the length of my office, across the hallway, into the next office, all the way up its far wall. Awesome!!

***WARNING*** Do not try to clean this by immersing it in water or spraying window cleaner on it. There is not a water-tight seal around the frame and when I sprayed window cleaner on it, some of the liquid seeped in between the clear plastic pieces onto the laser-etched film. Although this doesn't interfere with the rainbow prism function, it is unsightly (to me) because it always looks like there is water in between the plastic pieces. It never "dried" and returned to previous appearance. This is why I give this product 4 stars.

All this being said, I am here to purchase this as a Christmas present. Obviously, I would highly recommend this holographic window prism suncatcher.

I HAVE 4 OF THESE SO ONE OR MORE ARE IN THE SUN ALL THE TIME. A GREAT SHOWER OF COLOR AND CHEERS UP THOSE COLD SUNNY WINTER DAYS. BUY SOME AND GIVE YOURSELF SOMETHING TO SMILE ABOUT.

Nothing produces Rainbow colors like this prism. They use a special holographihc film that is placed in between 2 pieces of glass. The colors it projects are fantastic!SunCatcher - Axicon Rainbow Window - Awesome Suncatchers for FENG Shui

I'm ordering my second Rainbow Window. I've had my first for a few years and properly positioned, it creates a beautiful kaleidoscopic light throughout our first floor on sunny afternoons. I appreciate the fact that it can be hung either with its suction cup or a by a thread or nylon cord. I agree with everything the reviewer Christy said in her review of this item. My Rainbow Window has fallen off the window a few times and survived. That's definitely a plus. I think the reason some of the reviewers here have had problems with it has to do with the fact that it really has to be perfectly positioned to catch the rays.

I got this for my Mom for her birthday. It gives off such a nice rainbow effect that she said she wanted to give me one to put in my nursery window for my babies visual pleasure.

I was pleased to see that the frame is light-colored; it isn't an eyesore. Works well across my kitchen, which is wider than four feet. Direct sunsight is essential, but frosted or steamed windows will prevent the rainbow effect. If it would cost less I would buy more.

Great Suncatcher! I do not understand some of the other reviews and they must not be using it correctly. This suncatcher broadcast a much wider pattern than just a normal piece of glass or crystal. Hang it in a window with sunlight and it blows a rainbow all over the room. Very cool

I own 2 of the solar suncatchers and this blows them away! Not even close. Just make sure you hang it in a sunny window and it will fill your room with Rainbows.
