5.0 out of 5 stars You will wear this one out!
I didn't think it was possible to wear a CD out, but with this one we have. It is the perfect background music to all sorts of situations, dinner parties, open houses, etc. and we play it often. The music is relaxing but not "sleepy," interesting but not overbearing, and just plain wonderful. We are building our Chip Davis/Manneheim Steamroller to include...

3.0 out of 5 stars At least the title track found a new home
It, along with its composer Richard Burmer, had been booted off the re-release of "Western Spaces", in which Burmer shared billing with Steve Roach and Kevin Braheny. Burmer's work on that album provided a third melodic aspect to that album to go with Roach's ambience and percussive sound, as well as Braheny's EWI woodwind synth. The new version of...

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Classical Music for your money, October 11, 2006
This review is from: Sunday Morning Coffee (Audio CD)
I should tell you I started listening to this CD over half my lifetime ago. I was just 12 years old. It is still by far one of my favorites. I am more into rock, country, emo and alternative. For some reason though this happens to be one of my favorite CD's of all times. We have bought and worn out a number of copies in our house. Tapes have also been replaced. I guess this CD holds a special place in my heart since it was originally given to me by my grandmother before she died.

I bought this album several years ago on cassette which I no longer have. I was happy to stumble across it again while exploring music by Mannheim Steamroller. I hadn't realized that Chip Davis was the founder of Mannheim Steamroller, but now that I know, I understand why I enjoyed the compilation of Sunday Morning Coffee so much. I actually do play this album while my husband and I are lingering over our first cups of coffee - a gentle, uplifting, a little jazzy, musical start to any day. Feel free to substitute your favorite morning beverage and listen to this delightful album any time of day or night for that matter. As my budget permits, I'm planning to purchase Sunday Morning Coffee II.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of if not my favorite CD, July 11, 1998

A friend gave me a tape - I liked it so much I purchased the CD. Have given it for gifts. Without fail, it usually is one of their favorites too. A friend at the office claims to listen to it at least once a day. I can't say that, but I do enjoy it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Coffee and crossword, August 6, 2004
This review is from: Sunday Morning Coffee (Audio CD)
Richard Burmer is the highlight of this collection. I was in a shop in Singapore called Barang Barang which sells indonesian style furniture and accessories. Across The View was playing in the shop and after asking what it was I went downstairs (it was a shopping Mall) and bought the CD. That was back in 1996. Now in 2004 I still find this track a must at times of stress.

I played the track to a colleague at the time who instantly recognised it and told me it was a song by a Japanese band. Next day he brought that CD in and sure enough there it was Across The View - with lyrics (in English). It was done pretty much the same bar the vast landscape and having the addition of a fretless bass which was to die for. I have hunted high and low (yes I was an A-ha fan back in the mid 80's!!!) for this Japanese band's CD and having left Singapore, cannot ask my former colleague the name. If anyone out there has a clue what I'm talking about, please post a note here and let me know the name.

The rest of this CD is fine and definately background music to an occassion. You cant sit down on a Sunday with a cup of coffee and just sit there and listen - you have to be doing something at the same time.

Its very nice.

5.0 out of 5 stars An excellent album to sit and listen to, August 16, 2011
When you think of Mannheim Steamroller, you think excellent Christmas music. Well, in fact, those albums are just part of the large Mannheim Steamroller discography. This album is part of the Day Parts series - each album designed to capture the mood of a different part of the week. Drawing on coffee as a theme, the tracks are all relaxing and reflective. Some are quite old, and some are new, with the final track (composed and performed by Chip Davis) is pure Mannheim Steamroller.

I found this to be a very nice album - like I said, relaxing and reflective. It's an excellent album to sit and listen to, and just enjoy!

This CD is a great way to begin that quiet relaxing morning as you read your paper and sip on a hot cup of coffee. A great way to help put the morning into the right perspective.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow ! What An Album !, June 18, 2008

This album of music is the most awesome music I have heard in a very long time. It is hard to find Manheim Steamroller music other than Christmas songs. This album is a mix of classics and popular songs. What this does to my ears is pure Heaven. I love the synthesizer and I love the traditional instruments. The great mix of instruments, and the great mix of types of music is truly wonderful. This was money well spent !
