4.0 out of 5 stars This book touched me....
An interesting read centering around the life and adventures of an interracial girl named Sunday who was raised by the crew of an all black Life-Saving Station on the coast of N. Carolina... yet it is about so much more than just this. It is about the struggles of blacks and mixed race people, it is about self pride, WW2, racial bias, forgiveness, compassion, and an inner...

3.0 out of 5 stars Entertaining story
I found the story interesting, especially the historical information presented. What troubled me was the end when Charlie was harbored by Sunday. He was the enemy of the U.S., and even if he was a nice guy, he still was a German who would have torpedoed our country if ordered to do so. I found that troubling. The writing style is simple and straightforward; it's a...

An interesting read centering around the life and adventures of an interracial girl named Sunday who was raised by the crew of an all black Life-Saving Station on the coast of N. Carolina... yet it is about so much more than just this. It is about the struggles of blacks and mixed race people, it is about self pride, WW2, racial bias, forgiveness, compassion, and an inner determination to not only survive but also to be fiercely independent & proud of who you are. Filled with characters you can care about, a tad rough in spots writing wise but over all... it's one of those books you can curl up with a in comfy chair and never notice time rushing by.

What a great story! I truely enjoyed to detail in this book and it took me away to another time and place. Tom Lewis captured the period of the time perfectly and I loved the strong female character of Sunday. I look forward to many more books to come!

This was one of the first books I downloaded on my Kindle. I usually don't like suspense, thriller type books but after reading the reviews, I figured it's only $1 so it couldn't be a total lost. I couldn't put it down. It was interesting from beginning to end. The end of the book was so exciting it had my heart pumping faster and faster as I read the last third of the book. What I truly enjoyed about Sunday's Child was the history lesson that came along with the story. I also loved the fact that the leading character was a strong black woman who was determined, smart, and a true entreprenuer. Fabulous role model for all! As soon as I completed the book and discovered it was one of a trilogy, I quickly downloaded the second book "Hitler's Judas". Again, I was not disappointed. I completed both Sunday's Child and Hitler's Judas in less than a week and a half. I can't wait for the final book in the trilogy..."Sons of Their Fathers". I highly recommended this book to everyone.

I liked this book. Sunday's character was well developed and I couldn't wait to find out what she was doing next. The one star review baffles me. It may not be the reviewer's cup of tea but it's not that bad. In fact, I couldn't put it down. felt kind of rushed toward the end, but overall very engaging. Thumbs up especially for the kindle price.

I had no idea what I was getting into when I thought I would try this book due to the price. It is as good as a full cost book and better than many of them. The historical setting is interesting and the author doesn't spare the reader fear. I have since read another book by this author which is very similar and entertaining. This book is one of my must reads.

Not much of a mystery, but the book was quite enjoyable. Its gentle story reminded me a bit of "Plainsong." It's too bad so much of Sunday's life had to be summarized in a few paragraphs in the epilogue. Maybe there will be a sequel.
