5.0 out of 5 stars JESUS CHRIST!!!!!!!! :D, June 30, 2004
By
This review is from: Sundown (Audio CD)
IF YOU DO NOT BUY THIS CD, YOU ARE HALF CRAZY lol
This is serious. I've always been the BIGGEST S CLUB 8 FAN
and i seriously think that THIS CD IS THEIR BEST :D
Calvin's voice has become so much more mature and so has everyone else's :D The songs are much more mature as well and you can hardly notice that they were sung by 14-15 year-olds.
There are lots of songs on which you can dance along with and there are also very slow ballades like Drawn to you (my fav :D) and Pretty Boy (remake of M2M's :D) and they are simply amazing.
These teenagers DO KNOW HOW TO SING!!!! Don't just think that they can't sing because they are young! THEY CAN SING and they have been hand-picked by the GREAT S CLUB 7! :D
IF YOU really liked S Club 7, you really need to buy this album :)
YOu will never ever regret :)

Oh and this album is much better than ones by Kids in America or whatever :P Those kids cannot even sing :P And they sang too many S Club 8's songs :P And their versions are not as soon as those of S Club 8's :)

YOu will NEVER REGRET!!!!! :D
GO S CLUB 8!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Their BEST cd!!!!!!!!!, April 18, 2004
By
Denise (Watertown, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sundown (Audio CD)
This album was the best yet. I can't wait till their 3rd album and single comes out. Their vibes is very much POP and a little bit of disco. I recommend this cd to any pop music fan out their and others as well!!
1)Fool No More-This song is about someone who ur so caught up with because all they care about is the physical things in a relationship. The lead vocals are sung by Frankie and Rochelle.
2)Sundown- This song is about having a party right after Sundown with friends. The lead vocals are Frankie and Stacey.
3)Don't Tell Me You're Sorry- This song is about getting over someone who got over you and it is hard, cause they want you back! Lead vocals are the boys, Stacey, Frankie, and Rochelle.
4)Love To The Limit-This song is very disco feely and I rate it a 4/5.(Lead vocals are Daisy. Frankie, Rochelle, and Stacey)
5)Turn The Lights On- This song wasn't my favorite, but after I saw the dance routine and performance I started to listen to it all the time. I rate this a 5/5. (LV's are Rochelle, Frankie, Stacey, Calvin)
6)Searching For Perfection- As in England would call it, this song is very different and "wicked"! I luv the vocals by Frankie, but the lead vocals are sung by Rochelle, mostly. I rate this 4/5.
7)One Thing I Know- Let me just say that this song proves why the guys are really talented! This song is about someone who you really like, but the problem is that you don't know anything about their name or who they are. You just see them one day and you start to "fall in love". The lead vocals are by Calvin, Jay, and Aaron.I rate this a 6/5!!
8)Sail On Through- *awwwww* this song is amazing and it is a slow, sweet song. The lead vocals are by Frankie, Rochelle, and Stacey and I rate this a 5/5!
9)Big Fun- One word. FUN!!! The lead vocals are sung by Frankie, Jay, Stacey, and Rochelle. The background vocals sung by Daisy and Aaron are so good. I rate this song a 5/5!
10)Day You Came- This song is very dancey and serious. The lead voacls are sung by Stacey, Rochelle, and Frankie. I rate this a 4/5.
11)Pretty Boy-Not my favorite, but that is just my opinion. This is a slow song and very mellow. Lead vocals are sung by Stacey. I rate this a 3/5.
12)Rush-OMG!! I luv this song so much!!! It is very mysterious and I luv the beats and rhythms. Lead vocals are sung by Calvin, Jay, and Aaron and the background vocals where the boys sing and then after a girls comes on, is Frankie. Her voice in this song makes it *mysterious*. I rate this song a 5/5!
13)I Just Came To Dance-This song is absolutely fabulous. The LV's are sung by Frankie, Aaron, and Rochelle. I rate this a 4/5.
14)Drawn To You-*Sigh* This is sung solo by Calvin and it is a slow, romantic song that any girl can relate to if you have a thing for someone. I rate this a 4/5.
15)Tears On My Pillow- The song from Grease. I have to say that this song is so much better than the movie. Their remix is really awesome and the vocals sungs by Stacey, Rochelle, and Frankie are the best yet to a song remixed. I rate this a 5/5!!!

*According to my views of this album go out and buy this album. You won't regret it!! But if u do, sell it to me so I can hang up the pics in it everywhere. Enjoy!!!, and keep supporting S club 8!!!!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars An unexpected, disco gem!, March 24, 2006
This review is from: Sundown (Audio CD)
I've got to admit, when I bought S Club Junior's 'Together,' I was a bit disappointed. The lyrics were bland, most of the songs sounded childish, and the juniors' voices hadn't matured and sounded like what they were, eight thirteen year olds singing S Club 7 karaoke. So, as you can imagine, when I popped 'Sundown' into the CD player, I wasn't expecting much. Man, was I surprised...

1. Fool No More - This thumping, fast-paced disco track is the perfect way to start the album. Mature lyrics and great vocals set the tone for 'Sundown.' This track sounds like something Rachel Stevens might sing, a super infectious flashback to the eighties. 10/10
2. Sundown - This is, in my opinion, is one of the best songs on the album. Electro pop mixes with cool beats, a mega-catchy chorus, and great singing to provide what should have been a number one single. It's almost too good for its own good, you listen to it so many times it gets annoying, yet you still can't manage to turn it off...1,000/10
3. Don't Tell Me You're Sorry - Eh. I think this was a weak single choice. It's trying to combine disco and R&B, and it just doesn't work. The vocals are kind of weird, and the sad part is, it's not even very catchy. 5/10
4. Love to the Limit - Reminds me of an S Club 7 track. Nothing groundbreaking here, but it's a catchy little pop tune. 7/10
5. Turn the Lights On - Here we go, a standout to pick up the pace after those two rather lackluster songs. It starts off slowly, and then suddenly blasts into an irresistible chorus. Great! 10/10
6. Searching for Perfection - Another gem! Sounds just like a catchy disco jam from the seventies. 9/10
7. One Thing I Know - VERY S Club 7. A laid-back, peppy track for those hot summer days with the convertible top down. It's just too infectious! 9/10
8. Sail On Through - Yet another spectacular track. The bridge and chorus are both fantastic, and the harmonies are virtually flawless. 10/10
9. Big Fun - Of course, every song can't be perfect. Everything here is boring. This should have been replaced with either one of the b-sides 'Sloop Upside' or 'Wherever Your Heart Beats.' 3/10
10. The Day You Came - What a difference from 'Big Fun!' This is a giant, memorable electro track. Worth putting on repeat! 10/10
11. Pretty Boy - Warning, sappy ballad alert! However, it's so addicting, you can't help but love it. The vocals sound exactly like Hilary Duff. (I don't know if that's good or bad...) 10/10
12. Rush - A TRUE standout. There's only one word to describe this one, WOW. Super mature sounding song with a chugging electro beat and an AMAZING chorus! Superb! 1,000/10
13. I Just Came to Dance - Not as amazing as 'Rush' or 'Sundown,' but still good. The only problem is, it's just a bit boring until the chorus. 8/10
14. Drawn to You - The exact same sort of song as 'Pretty Boy.' The two should be released together as a single. It's almost too sugary and sweet, but it still manages to be great. Calvin sounds awesome. 10/10
15. Tears On My Pillow - Kind of a nice way to end the album. I think an original song, such as one of the b-sides, should have been in its place, but nevertheless, it's upbeat and charming. 8/10

Overall, 'Sundown' is a huge step in the right direction for S Club 8. They should have stuck to this material, instead of adding five more members, becoming a new band, (I Dream) and releasing a relatively boring pop album (Welcome to Avalon Heights). Snap this one up quickly, it's a diamond in the rough that's not worth forgetting.
