PreS-Gr 2--Two titles that have clear, full-color photos covering most of each page and drawings of various stages of growth that are repeated along the bottom of each two-page spread. The large-print text consists of two or three sentences per page with unfamiliar terms in bold print. The texts assume that readers have no background in the subjects. As a consequence, the text of Chicken has been so simplified that some statements are vague. Also, it seems odd that the author has chosen to use the rather archaic "cockerel" in place of the more common term, rooster. Sunflower is not quite as simplistic; it includes several scientific terms. Marginal purchases at best.
